Dark malts mix evenly with thick honey in the nose. It didn’t pour with much head, nice ’n dark, light brown on the edges. Quite sweet initially, the maltsare very eviden. The honey comes on later to smooth things over and make them last. It is thing, but the sweetness last beyond the yeast foam and then your palate clears up bretty nicely. I was surprised by the good malt mix and how well it’s balanced with the honey.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Beautiful pour dark hue roasted barley and clover tones. Similar feel to a porter but without the saltiness, however also lacking some of the richness. A nice change of pace but unlikely to try again.

Pours brown/black. Aroma of malts and brown sugar, not the most appetizing aroma. Taste is malty, burnt, slightly sweet. Not a favourite.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Roasted malts, dark fruit or honey and molasses. Almost jet mahogany with a think brown head. Malt explodes with a rich sweetness that comes from the honey. Coats the pallet in a malty cloying sweetness. A bit more bitterness would have balanced this better. This actually isn’t too bad in the right circumstances. Cold night shared among friends would be good, but not for everyday drinking.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

Why would they bother using specialty honeys on beer, honestly is it possible to tell the difference when it’s so overpowered? Well, up to them. I liked the beer, by the way, the honey was actually detectable and ale creamy and nutty. Pretty good, had it on draft but I think I’ll get the bomber sometime.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
650ml bottle pours a dark brown color with a finger of off-white head that settles quickly leaving little lacing behind. Aroma is light roasted malts and chocolate with some floral hops and citrus. Taste is light chocolate malty and honey sweetness with a moderate citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. One of the better brown ales I have sampled.
