COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scorpion Double IPA is loaded with citrus hops and a huge malt backbone. Brewed in small batches. Another great ale by Tin Whistle Brewery.

Bottled. Had high hopes for this, sadly its a mess. Overpowering sugary caramel destroys any hope of a citrus hop hit. Similar thing with the flavour. Pear drops and toffee, no hop character at all. Poor

very subpar dipa in my opinon. weak aroma mostly of malt and some hints of citrus. quite bitter but lacking much flavour from the hops. the malt in very prevelant but almost taste like cheap extract malts. wasent overally impressed

Looks great. Bright and fiery red-brown colour and a thin bubbly head. Aroma is chewy and a bit buttery. The body is fairly light for the style. There’s more diacetyl than hop, which is sort of backgroundy. The malts are nice, smooth, lightly caramelly with a touch of crystal. If you look at this as more of an imperial red, you’ll find it quite good, except for the diacetyl, which is perceptible and therefore a problem.

Bottle. Clear amber pour with creamy white head. Aroma has citrus and some freshness to it. Taste is quite flat and sweet. Limited bitterness. Alcohol content is clear. Low carbonation.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Spirit Merchants in Vic West for around ~ $7. Pours a thin, white head atop a deep orange body. Nose is very peppery and candied cherries. Fairly sweet, mildly roasted and alcoholic tongue. A lot of kick for a 8% abv. Okay.

A nice golden amber coloured beer that is lightly carbonated. The palate is rather lengthy but doesn’t distract from overall taste. A good quality and very drinkable beer.

650 ml bottle. Pours a brown amber with little head. Aromas of oranges, resin, and roasted malts. Flavours of a weak barley wine. Citrus hops and malts. But neither a good barley wine or DIPA.

Bottle, shared with my wife. A beautiful crystal clear orange coloured body topped by an orange-tinted crown. Aroma is sweet and candyish, ripe melon and peaches are suggested. The palate is candy-sweet as well, with an over-ripe papaya fruitiness, followed quickly by a sharp bitterness that has a distinct metallic edge to it. That metallic note is rather strange, and is what I often find with Tettnang hops for me, but there is no mention of noble hops here. Not sure where its coming from. In the end, this beer’s biggest flaw is the lack of balance between the sticky-sweet candyish malts and the aggressively bitter hops. Not much complexity in the aromatics department. In the end, a bit tough to finish to be honest.

Tap at Calgary Beer Fest. Pours clear dark amber with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, and spicy hops, caramel and toast malt with pear and apricot esters. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
