Very grainy aroma, lots of barley, some pulses. Copper, small loose head. Pleasant coffee-like aspects to the roast. Full palate. A bit sweet, but only what you’d expect for a 4.8% special bitter. Finish is close to spent coffee grounds. Very serviceable bitter.

29th March 2015: lunchtime pint in The Chequers, Walthamstow E17. Cask, hand-pulled: mahogany body a colourless wisp for a head (pity). Malty lead in both the nose and flavour: semi-sweet with bold fruitiness before the bitterness kicks in towards the finish.

This was a pleasant surprise, as I was expecting something average at best. Pours a copper amber colour and has a slightly roasted malt and fruit aroma. Nicely balanced slightly fruity and sweet malt with pleasant slightly citrus bitter finish. Pretty tasty!

Pint at the Nags Head in Reading. Orange-red, with a good creamy/bubbly head. Bitter, with a bit of zest, fair. Dry finish. Zesty, sweet and floral aroma. Smooth and enjoyable if not spectacular.
