Pours cloudy red, with thick foam head, rather bland aroma and flavour, doesn’t excite me.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I can taste why it may have won the Champion Beer of Britain, but just didn’t do enough for me to warrant it. Caramel, smooth & creamy comes to mind, but much like some others.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark amber, one-finger beige head, with relatively high carbonation from the bottle. Huge aroma of mango, grapefruit, resin, burnt toffee. Taste is then surprisingly dry, with strong bittering. Malt toasts and toffee comes out. Complex but balanced. Reputation deserved.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at the Bat.
Vibrant russet colour. Strong backbone with a husky mouthfeel which leads to some unraveling fruity notes. An obvious crowd please for both the craft and CAMRA crowds. Very good.
