3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2015-09-17. Hazy orange body nice creamy beige head and lace. 4+ Aroma is moderately hoppy over malt core, muted citrus and hints at resin. Flavour is moderately bitter up front over a fairly sweet malt base, hints of caramel, then finishes fairly bitter with a sort of pithy and lightly astringent quality to it. Average plus bodied palate, good carbonation. Decent, but the malt takes away from the hops for me, particularly by muddling the light citrus notes. Fruit character grows as it warms though. On cask at Urban Tap House, Cardiff.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The three American hops pop through to lead this taste profile. Soft malts and almonds round out a simple taste profile. Finishes clean. Great with spicy food and Joni Mitchell tunes.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Deep golden color. Lemon and peach sweets and floral notes in the aroma. Floral perfumed oily citruic flavor with peach and citrus. Malty sweet, almost sugary. Soft tart notes. A bit too sweet for an IPA.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pours a cloudy amber-coloured beer with a two-finger, white, and coarse head. Aroma is mandarins, pine, wax, some hop herbal character and candy sugar. Low carbonation for the style. Taste starts with a bitter pinch on the tongue, then a full malt sweetness. Ends with bitter orange marmalade and hop citrus. More floral than mosy IPAs.

Maker: Tiny Rebel Brewery, Newport, Wales, UK ***
Beer: Tin Rebel Hadouken Amplified IPA (bottled, unfiltered, 330ml) ***
Style: India Pale Ale ***
ALC.VOL.: 7.4% ***
"A collaboration brew with Glyn Roberts (The Rake Bar), Hadouken is our Amplified IPA. A dedication to the classic finishing move from one of our favourite video games from back in the 90’s. Massively hopped with a combo of 3 American varieties." [brewery note] ***
Colour: Hazy orange, with a small, fluffy off-white head. ***
Nose: Mix of tropical fruit and resinous pine. ***
Texture: Medium body, hardly watery, moderate carbonation. ***
Taste: Grapefruit and resinous pine at the start, with some additional spices and a hint of caramel malts. Balanced. Middle is pine and citrus, mild resin. Finish the same. Slightly soapy after taste. ***
Impressions: Like yesterday’s IPA from the same brewery, this beer feels a tad undernourished and thin-bodied considering its considerable ABV (but better than the other beer). Pleasant enough, to be sure, but I’ve had better.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
slightly opalescent amber to orange colour, moderate sized yellowish head; aroma of citruses, pine resin, floral notes, slight tangerine, maybe peach and orange zest and some bread; bittersweet taste with resiny-overripe fruity-caramel-notes and some spicy alcohol in the aftertaste; excellent IPA

Bottle. Hazy golden with a medium sized white head. Pine, lots of citrus, candied fruit and tropical fruits in the nose. Flavor is also hop forward with pine, wood, citrus, light hay and white bread, light alcohol. Medium body, fine carbonation, medium sweet and bitter. The alcohol feels a little, but otherwise very drinkable.
