3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JorgeLee (711) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2013
Bottle from Kris Wines. Lovely deep reddish chestnut character, thin white head. Nice hoppy aroma, main character that of the creamy malt hop interplay of these red/amber malt IPAs. The finish becomes more bitter, dry, pine. The smoke is very restrained, less of the rauchbier and more of a vague sensation of something slightly smokey in the background. Flavoursome and drinkable.

Super huge mangolia head which stays and stay leavy sticky drifts all over the inner glass. Nice reddy brown slight slight haze colour. Appetising medicinal TCP nose. Lovely clinging radiating rye grip, dark chocolate, earth with a slight spritz end. Balance and complexity. Smokey too.
Great stuff.
Sure works for me.
Two thumbs up.

Keg at Craft Islington. Dark brown colour, creamy beige head. Aroma is smoke, meat, bit of creaminess. Taste is bacon, smoke and citrus in the background. Bit unusual and not sure how successful it is, but definitely interesting. Quite easy to drink.
4.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Essex (46) - Cardiff, WALES - JAN 4, 2013
Hot Box is an "Indian Smoked Ale", which basically has been defined by the brewers as an American IPA with smoked malts used to create a new style and flavour, to give the beer a great level of hoppiness as well as a nice smoked flavour akin to a Rauchbier.
Poured from a 330ml bottle into an Orval goblet glass.
Pours a mid-dark brown colour with a short lived white head. Clearly unfiltered, and it looks good.
Smells faint to me, but fairly smokey and hoppy.
Tastes like heaven in a glass. Very hoppy like an IPA but with an amazing malt presence that balances the whole thing out, and to top it all off it has smoke flavours too. It’s like some sort of crazy but awesome hoppy cigar. The smoke isn’t too overpowering though, none of it is. It’s just all perfectly balanced.
Overall this beer is brilliant. It’s so drinkable yet tasty at the same time. I love it and I wish I had more.

Bottle at home, thanks to an IP with Essex Jim, 01/01/13.
Pours dark dark amber/chestnut brown with a thin off white head that assumes a frothy bubbleness clinging to the outer circle.
Nose carries juicy hops, pine, mango, light grapefruit, subtle background rausch.
Taste comprises hops, pine, grapefruit, mango, caramel malts, mineral tones, great blend of smoke, enough to be noticed, enough to remain a well balanced hoppy IPA.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hoppy bitter finish with a touch of smoke.
Great stuff, the Tiny Rebel folks never seem to produce a dud !
Bis meine Straße !

330 ml bottle.
Pours a dark amber colour with a thick white head. Aroma of smoked wood, berries and roasted malts. Flavour of roasted malts, smoked wood, perfume, sweet berries and ash. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a dry, malty, slightly bitter finish. A bit weird.
