Just to round off the recent yeast obsession we’ve had the over last few months we managed to source a traditional German Wheat style bottom fermenting yeast. Using a bottom fermenting yeast was new for us, as our house strain is a top fermenting. We needed to select a hop that complimented the characteristics of a traditional German Wheat beer so we opted for Amarillo which gives a citrus orangey flavour without masking or overpowering the yeast profile and aroma. For the malt bill we kept it traditional by using German Pilsner and Wheat malt.

Cask @ Urban Tap House, Cardiff. Yellow, almost straw. Big creamy white head.Scent is ripe with the citrus/tropical fruit hit of Amarillo. A bit of pine and buttermilk as well. Gorgeous. The taste however is more of a letdown, with some unconvincing bitter sourness like watered-down grapefruit juice. Bitter hit in the back of the throat for the long finish and aftertaste. Body is thinner than I’d have liked. Good beer but I would not be so tempted to have it again.

Bomba di profumo iniziale. Più americana di così non si può. Al palato note molto erbacce.. Quasi eccessive.
