Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also bottle conditioned.
Our third “Ghost story” offering. The Hanged Monk is a traditional Mild Ale. The deep colour and full body give it an appealing appearance in your pint glass, while the gentle hopping brewing process results in a sweet, mild flavour and a good malty nose.

Bottle at The Penguin Beer Bobbing/13 Beers of Halloween tasting. Deep mahogany with a beige rim. Sweet plummy yeast in the aroma joined by coal, cocoa and apple. Soft chocolate dustiness, silk, hazelnut and apple peel. Generous parting roast. One of the better beers of the evening.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin rim of tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as lighter notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish. The body is light. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Good but a little watery. Not so mild and a little more like an stout. I liked it and drank it pleasantly.

Cask, gravity at St Neots BF ’09 (’Booze on the Ouse’). Very dark brown. Ashy burnt aroma like an ashtray that had coffee spilt in it. Taste roughly ditto. Slight bitterness. This is okay if you like wet dog ends.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Deep ruby, small airy head. Cocoa powder aroma. Medium sweet and light bodied with chewy, rounded mouthfeel. Toasty and chocolatey with bees wax and salt. A well drinkable, well structure dark mild with salty licorice finish.
