Growler pour. Cheers to Crosamich for the sample. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The aroma’s of pumpernickel bread. Grainy rye. Some coffee. A bit of umami. Light berry fruits. The tastee is cranberry and strawberry compote. Mildly tinny. Soft citric bite. A bit of farmhouse yeast. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, interesting, but a bit all over the place.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Damico (1920) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Pours dark unclear in color, pretty close to a stout, with a really nice beige head. The aroma brings a pleasant blend of saison yeast and the wine barrels bringing a wild characteristic that I love. The flavor does the same, almost cherry winey notes appear from the wine barrels that settle long and tasty on the tongue with some spicy notes of the Insanity barrels at the end.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kbutler1 (1259) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Tap and growler. Pours a dark brown color with a slight reddish tint. Slight tan head. Aroma has notes of almond, dark cherry, and wood. Light/medium mouthfeel. I find this beer has awesome taste upfront; slightly tart, cherry, nut, oak with a slight bitterness but then the end kind of finishes flat for me. Dry finish as well. Overall, pretty good as I drank the whole small growler by myself.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JCB (3804) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 12, 2013
Fairly still black/maroon pour, bubbles emerging late then fading quick. Huge tart berry nose, wine barrel for sure. Not a whole ton of saison characteristics, and I’d like to have tried the regular Domo to see how spicy and bracing the black saison is. But certainly bretty and flavorful as is, and an enjoyable beer.

Dark black pour with no head (growler pour). Lots of brett and wine in the nose. Tart and vinous with a nice peppery funk. Peppery flavor with some bitter chocolate and dark fruit. Dry and tart on the finish.

From Growler. Black color with a small sized off white head. Chocolate, some roast, woody, light earth, vinous and some lighter spice.

sepia with thin cream ring. Earthy manure nose, chocolate and lightly dank and herbaceous. Flavor is strong chocolate up front, lightly sour across mid with lactic lime notes, finishing with grinds.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reynolds314 (1480) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Pours an oily black with very little carbonation. Aroma is vinegar, light ash, funk, and vanilla. Taste is medium tart with a dry finish. Strange low carb oily mouthfeel. Pretty unique beer with good tartness and nice saison characteristics but the lack of carbonation is a bit off putting.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ernesto987 (2372) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Near flat pour from a growler, toasty rich vine characteristics, like a flawed cd4,

Pours jet black with a big mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee with cream and tart fruit. Taste is tart, chocolatey, creamy, red wine and roast. Crazy complex, so much going on but somehow it all works together.
