Distinguished by black wax on the 375 ml bottle. A dark saison that was barrel aged in Jim Beam whiskey barrels which once held Weyerbacher Insanity and half was aged in local Chadds Ford Winery red wine barrels with bacteria.

Dark brown color, near black, with small brownish head. Very nice aroma, dark malts aroma, peppery, woody. Good dark chocolate and roasted malt flavor, a bit spicy, woody, tannic, less acidic and more balanced than the Prunus.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottle tasting. Thanks to Bruce, Dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is very light and mildly crisp. Nice level of tartness. A bit of Flemish red character here. Well integrated mild dark malts, whisper of dark chocolate. Mild vanilla oak. Light finish brings a touch of balsamic. Hangs together very well indeed.

Bottle big thanks to Bruce. It pours near black with a medium tan head. The nose is soft, funky, jammy berry, raspberry pip, toast, earth, umami/seaweed and vanilla. The taste is bitter-sweet, spice, vinous, roasted malt, cocoa, berry, lactic, vanilla, cherry skin, vinous and some acidity. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Really nice jammy berry aspect to it. Interesting and good depth. Nice.

Bottle sent by Jim awhile ago. A: Inky black with a thin mocha head. N: Leather, pinot noir grapes, tobacco, cocoa, coffee, lemon zest, caramel, oak, sulfur, apples. T: Sour, then bittersweet. M: Medium body. Sticky. O: An interesting sweet/sour concoction wherein I prefer Prunus. For a black saison, this isn’t too shabby, that’s for sure.

Bottle sample from "writerLJBerg". Colour...very dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose...sharp, pungent and funky with a vinous aspect that permeates the sinuses. Palate...dry, tart and tannic with tremendous vinous flavours and sharp tannins. There’s loads of orchard fruits and anise as well as dark cherry, dark raisins and figs. The finish is long and dry. Thanks, Luke!
