4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a trace of top rising bubbles. The nose is ripe funky fruit, citrus, grain, cider, vinous notes, barnyard brett and some sweet lemon undertones. The palate is a peppery spicy saison heightened by barrel funk and tart citrus fruit. Nice balance between tart and funk. Big rustic grainy background and a crisp dry finish. Nice dusty lingering barrel notes.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A crisp and bright blonde Saison that doesn’t overdo anything. Very good.
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed when a few months old. Bottle from orangesol, thanks a lot Nate.
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: Nose is very farmhouse (not bretty or wild in any way), smooth musk, passion fruits, some oak, chardonnay notes. In mouth the beer has a crisp light body with a very active tickling carbonation. Taste is very bright and clean for the style. Moderately fruity but with apples and a wide array of light color fruits. Some barrels and mild tannins but really not overly oaky. Rather dry but not bone-dry. Rustic but not super-rustic. A certain champagne sensation and not only because of its champagne-like mouthfeel. Mild tartness. This is a beer that really doesn’t push too far in any direction, I loved this one a lot and I’m pleasantly surprised to see an easy-drinking Saison getting such good ratings. Beers like this one is why I’m into beer trading, I prefer to drink a few expensive high-quality beers then get drunk on cheap beers of lesser quality (if you are good with grammar you know what I just did there).

Bottle with hella thanks to dmac. Pours hazy light straw yellow with a small white head and decent lacing. Aroma is vinous, white wine, funk, barnyard, lemon, horse blanket, wood. Flavor is about the same, fruit, vinous, oaky, funky. Very light initial sweetness dries out fast. Not really much bitterness. LIghtly tart with a fair amount of funk going on. Light body. This is a highly enjoyable saison.

Great aroma white wine character l8ght acidic tartness a bit of peach and a slightly grassy character. Taste follows but is rapidly dissipated and gone in an instant. Good and refreshing but for a beer with such greatness within I wish that it would leave a more lasting impression on the palate.

Bottle at Bruce’s new pad, big thanks to our host again, 15/10/13.
Hazed yellow with a thin off white head that dissipates edgeward.
Nose is tarte apricots, bitter orange, grass, farmy, big peach waft, light sugars, tangy fruit.
Taste comprises tarte grape zing, orange pith, white wine notes, madarin, peach youghurt, citrus dipped straw.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and clean in the conclusion.
Top draw saison deserves its place at the top of the tree!

Tasting at Bruce’s new pad. Thanks to Bruce for this one. Almost clear light gold beer with a residual white head. Light palate, smooth with modest superfine carbonation. Light lemon - lime sourness, a little peel. Light floraness, slightly bitter. Finishes light and dry with a mild bitter linger. Very nice citric zing here.

Bottle cheers to Bruce. Batch 2. Clear golden pour with a soapy white head leaving good lacing. Nose is quite unique compared to a lot of Saisons I’ve had. Slightly funky with balanced lemon zest/rind, white pepper, pine needles and some vinous notes. Very grapey. Taste again is vinous, specifically white grapes, and very grassy. Almost like an in the middle Sauv Blanc. Very juicy and almost earthy without taking away from how clean this beer is. Slight peppery finish which works well. A touch of sweet tang through the middle with light bitterness right on the finish. Very well made beer with great complexity

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500 ml, green waxed bottle served in a Tired Hands oversized wine glass. Huge thanks to xnicknj for the glass and the beer.
A: Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a dollop of white foam forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin film and sticky ring. Sheets of lace are left down the glass.
S: This smell is delightful. Great lemon zest, spicy yeasty and sweet oak. White grape with some light tannin wine qualities, but the lemon characteristics come back with a nice sweetness as well. Slightly tart citrus peel as well.
T: Even more stellar than the nose. Lemony and bright with a nice peppery yeast. Slight spice with a minimal oak character. Slightly tart lemon peel with a sweet, bready malt body. The finish as a little vanilla sweetness, white wine and a little grapey fruitiness.
M: Light bodied with a nice a fresh bite. Medium carbonation with a smooth finish.
O: Absolutely delicious. Slightly tart and sweet with a great saison yeast presence. Enough spice and esters to arouse the tongue and at the same time give a nice complexity. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks Nick!
