Very funky lactic nose with strong grapefruit and lemon, lots of apricot. Tate is lightly sweet and lightly sour, flavors are a bit dull, light cotton candy, some citrus and golden fruit juice. Soft with gentle carbonation.

My Bottom Line:
Cracking cereals, white grapes, guava and pepper thrive before tartness seals this elegant creature.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the hazy sunshine.
-Cereals are beautifully outlined from aroma to finish, which is rare for Saisons.
-The mouthfeel is smoothly effervescent.
-All flavors are balanced and easily approachable.

Pour is pale golden yellow, light haze, white head that dissipates quickly. Nose has some tart grape skin, light notes of sulfur, grassy hop, pepper and lemon. Taste has a bit less sulfer, a bit thin, light tart grape skin, faint grassy hop, moderate bitterness in the finish. Carb is very low, a bit buttery in the finish.

Initially clear as glass, lighter than straw, with a gray tint. Funky nose, layered and sophisticated; baked golden apples, cardamom, pungent rye spice. Dandelion petal, dust, champagne vinegar; a lactic characteristic here, with some vanilla and lavender. This is marvelously deep.

The flavor is stately and confident, quietly complex, less active than the nose but more satisfying. The wicking acidity together with the jagged spiced rye malt is incredible. Sharp acetic edges are bathed in soft fruits; apricot, preserved lemon.

Gravel and brine define the stony, acid washed mid palate. Texturally soft but appropriately intense. White wine like finish with juicy, tart lasting impression. The radiant acids are foiled brilliantly by the dark forest rye sensation. Amateurishly, I mispoured the bottle to unleash too much sediment too early, and will need to try this again to compare.

Bottle @ Pat’s. Very pale straw pour with white foam. Super funky and earthy nose. Tons of white grape, green apple, and tropical fruit. Maybe some guava? Kind of yeasty, champange quality to it as well. The flavor is slightly tart. Tons of white grape, tropical fruit, and pear. Pale malt, cracker, and drying oak. Sublte funk and must. A bit of lemon zest, too. Really nice, easy drinking saison.

Bottle from the brewery via Derek M. Pours a pale golden color, no head. Aroma slightly floral, some oaky and vinous character as well. Hints of spice, rye. Body lively yet tart, finish very juicy, grain character comes out in finish. This is good, but not mind-blowing.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bottle at the hotel after the RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours cloudy, but very bright yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to rocky lace. The nose is fruity vinous with a creamy note, hint of vanilla oak, a touch of citrus tartness and traditional spicy saison yeast. The flavor is more vinous fruit and lactic with some citrus tartness throughout, with some bitterness and spicy yeast on the back. The body is light with average carbonation and a long tart, fruity, and spicy finish.

Draft. A hazy light yellow beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of lemons, spices, milk, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, lemons, spices, and hops, leading to a dry finish.

Draught at MikkellerBar. Clear yellow - white head. Light malty. Fruity notes. Herbal. Flowery. Light wheaty sweetness. Peachy. Citrus. Nice mild oakey. Light white grapes. Lovely mellow complexity.
