Bottle shared by Lunch. Thanks Paul! The beer is near black with an inch+ of dense, beige head. the aroma brings a potent dose of whiskey, followed by vanilla, bread, oak, chocolate. Again, big whiskey flavor, followed closely by rye bread and chocolates. Huge barrel characteristics. A bit tannic in the finish with lingering booze on the palate. Overall, a really solid beer.

16.9 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick and foamy tan cap leaving lacy garlands. Nose is wood, prune and molasses. Soft medium body with a fuzzy tang. Taste is fig, oak, rye whiskey, raisin and coffee. Not as sweet as the base beer with balance from the whiskey and smoothness from the barrel.

Bottle cracked with some friends in the RLD. pours black with off white head, beige lacing, notes of dark chocolate, raspberry, whiskey barrel. Lighter to medium body, very fruity finish. This was liked by all.

Bottle shared with and thanks to phillycraft. Pours dark brown with a beautiful brown lacy head. Aroma is whiskey, chocolate, roast, vanilla and toffee. Incredibly smooth. So much chocolate in the finish. Moderate, not overly sweet. Moderate bitter aswell but the aroma stays for so long. Full bodied, sticky texture and soft carbonation. Great!

Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Dave. Thanks man! Pour is lightly hazy brown with a small tan head. Roasty, herbal, woody, light cocoa, dark fruits, herbs, leathery, and coffee in the aroma. Taste is roasty, light spice, cocoa, espresso, a hint of whiskey, toffee, raisins, and caramel with a lightly roasted finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Nice stuff.

500mL shared by GT2. Dark brown, near black pour with tan foam, good lacing. Aroma is hazelnut, salted caramel, nougat, cinnamon, creme fraiche, coffee, chocolate. Taste is heavy whipping cream, hazelnut, vanilla, cinnamon, hot cocoa. Silky, rich mouthfeel. Just a touch of rye whiskey. Palate is balanced- more of a porter or Black IPA in mouthfeel given the high carbonation/aeration. Not sweet at all. Alcohol level absent.

500mL green wax thanks to ThoreauLikeAGirl. Pours a clear deep brown with higher carbonation. Medium, small bubbled pillowy foam forms with an extremely careful pour. High retention and giant swathes of lacing. Looks ink black in the Oerbier stemware. If you were to pour this like a normal RIS, be prepared for all foam. Nose off the bat is rich barrel, savory roast, sweet caramelized onion, spicy barrel, more of that off-putting red onion. Taste is silky and rich, no sourness or funk like I was sort of expecting. Instead, this is a mega rich melted chocolate dessert beer with hazelnut praline. Palate is silky, velvety but not sweet or sticky. No alcohol presence at all. Pretty crazy how much work was put into this to make something fairly straightforward, but nearly flawless. The body is aerated, high effervescence for style, but somehow not thin.
