3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - JUN 14, 2012On tap at Tired Hands. Pours a moderately-dark brown color with a rusty orange hue to it. The nose carries nice notes of earth and slight bread along with some spice and pepper in the background. A touch of American hops as well. Flavor has a nice malt base with some pepper notes and a delicate earthiness. Mild citrus. Body is medium with good carbonation and a semi-dry finish. Not my absolute favorite of the saisons, but still quite good.

glowing ruby-brown color. nice creamy off-white head. classic peppery saison aromas, some tart red fruit/ citrus perfume and floral essence comes through and transmigrates to flavor implications through the olfactory. Tart red fruit subtlety, pear-like perfume, and peppery saison spice. classic flavors, dry finish, nice mellow malt body. well executed beer.

Pours dark amber in color with a decent off white head. The aroma brings notes of tea, citrus, and pepper notes with some sweet refreshing minty notes as well. The flavor brings tea like flavors with light citrus notes and yeast as well. A bit lighter in body for the darker saison style, but smooth.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Ah, the dark saison. A creature I rarely understand. Frequently plagued by a conflicted palate that can’t figure out whether it wants to be fresh and invigorating or stale and stagnant. Thesaurus fits the bill despite hints of flavorful notes. Amber to chestnut body. Egg-shell white head. Spotty lacing. Grainy with hints of lemon, leather, pepper, and dried hay. Flavor sweetens up as the earthy, almost roasted malts start to clash with the bright saison notes. Medium bodied, aggressive carbonation, dry finish.

Complex flavor profile with hints of honey wheat bread, floral and spicey notes, woody, and grass. Crisp dry finish with flavors lingering on the palate.

Pours a chestnut color with a medium white head. Aroma is malty/yeasty with some spicy notes. Flavor is spicy/yeasty...faint bubblegum and the faintest cinnamon note...this beer tastes great and the complexity is more than i can describe. Mouthfeel is light and lively with a dry, spicy finish.

On draft at Tired Hands; a "calico Saison".
Pours an dark amber, with an off white, retentive head. Nose and flavor have distinct house Saison yeast flavor, with a stronger malt, slightly sweet and bready, presence and a dry finish. Medium thick, soft body, well carnonated. Lost my notes from this sample. Will revisit.
