3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Tired Hands. Muddy/chill hazed deep red pour with big tan lacing. Smoked nose with red wine vinegar. Small tangy funk and chocolate. Taste is clean, malty, lightly hoppy, zero stickiness. Mild lactic chocolate and quenching density. Really good. Refreshing if you can believe it. Dry, minerally with lactic chocolate. No sticky maple or cloying sweetness. Much more nuanced than the recipe portends.

Draft at tired hands with Linh. Pours a deep murky reddish brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is lightly tart, dark fruits, slightly estery, and wood. Mouthfeel is medium to light with notes of sweet fruit, yeast, faint tartness, light oak and cocoa.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Tired Hands. Dark body. Nose has chocolate and some roast, fairly heavy on the chocolate. A bit of the maple comes through, though not too much. Flavor is focused on the chocolate and has a faint nuttiness as well. Backing yeast. Pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at the brewpub on the Hand Farm release day. Poured a deep reddish/mahogany body with an averaged sized foamy light beige head. Aroma is choclate up front with lots of spice from the saison yeast, notes of pepper, wet nuts, slight sourness, bad bread and old vase water with dead wild flowers. Medium boided with stronger carbonation and an average duration on the finish. Flavor of chocolate, older honey, dark bread, cirus notes, slighrtly sour, yeast and a touch of sourness. Meh, although I rated it favorable not sure I was a fan of this one.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap at brewery, might have been our least favorite of the night. Hazy purple crimson color, with small creamy head and dct sporadic lacing. Aroma was coffee, grape fizzy, saison yeast, light dark cocoa, and spice. Taste was much of the same with a sour, bitter coffee coming out in the finish, the rest was the weird grape flavor. Low to medium carbonation with a very thin body. Slightly grainy and sour aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Yes, yes, yes killing the ego - hazy amber, large dense cream head that laces all over, drops gently over minutes to . Dry nose lightly dusty, hay, earth, and brown sugar with chocolate flecks. Sweeter flavor has light esters creeping in bubblegum, earth and chocolate emerge mid, sweetness a bit overbearing in the finish thanks to lighter body, softer carbonation, and general "muteness" of yeast elements.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy amber with brown and ruby hues...medium tan head. Aroma has light yeasty and earthy notes...very mild chocolate...faint funk/tart and spice. Flavor has some dark chocolate wrapped around yeasty spicy notes...not getting much in the way of maple syrup here but it may add to the creamy/silky mouthfeel a bit? Medium and the finish is roasty with dry dark chocolate and a bit of a nice burnt note.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Murky red-brown body, medium to thin pale tan head, soapy lacing. Nose is lightly roasted/earthy with mellow bitter-sweet chocolate that hints at sine citrus and some honey-like sweetness. Flavor is similar with a general washed-out vibe to it. Lacking the density of maple syrup which I would expect in the flavor. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly hollow finish. Oily on the tongue. Slight bitterness and minerality.

Pours murky brown amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma has lightly sweet Belgian yeast notes. Flavor brings malty flavors with light apple sweet notes, perhaps from the maple.
