Aroma: big dose of citrus hops with a pleasant coffee and chocolate malt presence. Grapefruit and pine, resin, honey, milk chocolate. Pours black with a thick brown head, excellent retention and lacing. Smooth chocolate and roast flavors blended well with a big hop charge. Grapefruit and resin, fairly high bitterness, smooth and semi-dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, nice texture. Excellent brew.

Served on-tap at the Brewpub a month or so ago, just getting around to adding this now.
A - Pours midnight black with a creamy one finger tall tan head leaving sticky trails of lace down parts of the glass.
S - Smells of dark roast, sticky sweet honey, grassy hops, pine needles and some nice chocolate malt. The hops are strong yet it has just the right amount of roast to keep it in check. A very nice nose.
T - This one is pretty roasty up front but then the grassy/piney hops come crashing though. A touch of sweetness from the honey, and even a bit of chocolate, round things out. Finish is very roasty, lingering on the palate long after the finish.
M - Medium-Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Nice creamy feel with plenty of hop bitterness and dark roast throughout. The alcohol is well hidden behind the bold flavors.
O - This was a very nice black IPA. Not the best I have had but definitely another winner from the guys at Tired Hands.

Not sure how I missed this one in the past, but catching up from my notes now. Also had the opportunity to try again recently and it’s still drinking quite well. Aroma is great with pine, earth, and a bit of citrus. Great chocolate and roast alongside that. Flavor has chocolate and a bit of roast along with a nice backing hop character and strong bitterness. Despite the bitterness, still fairly creamy. Dangerously drinkable at 11%.

One of the best Black IPAs ive ever had. Intensely robust and flavorful with tons of grassy herbal hops and a roasty rich malt backbone. Great beer.

Poured from a growler that my parents picked up from the brewpub, thanks guys! Pours a black body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big and bright citrus pines, lots of roasts with some earth and mocha, a dense chocolate malt backing, and some resins. Flavor is similar. Bright and resiny citrus pines with a really nice chocolate malt and a firm, roast and coffee backing. Finishes dry, citrusy, earthy, roasty, and bitter with plenty of chocolate to balance. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a creamy, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty fantastic Black IPA. Bold, bitter, and dry with plenty of roasts, but very well balanced with no hint of alcohol and it never gets cloying or sticky. Very enjoyable.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at TH brewpub. Poured into a 8 oz champaign ??? Style glass. Jet black, an inch or so of white head and some sticky lacing. Pine aroma with some chalk and coffee thrown in. Mouthfeel is dry but full at the same time with a perfect amount of carbonation! Don't know how a 11% beer got this way but its perfect! Taste is lots of cocoa and dark chocolate with a bit of coffee. This is all balanced out with pine and tropical hop flavors. Dry chalk and cedar round it out. I don't like to gush too much over a beer but this one was fantastic! A double black ipa-saison that is almost as easy to drink as a 5% porter. Best of all worlds.

Definitely a great take on the style. The honey keeps it dry, it is very much a limited-dark malt style one.

From a growler shared by GT2. Thanks bro! This was my first Tired Hands beer, but not my fist beer made by Jean. Its fucking awesome. Reminded me of HF James and Jim but this incredibly had even more hop flavor. Alcohol very well hidden. I definitely need to he’s up to Philly for a weekend in the near future.

Pours jet black with a big mocha head. Aroma of roasty malts, dark chocolate and citrus/piney hops. Taste follows adding a little sweetness in the finish.
