COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask.
A full bodied session bitter that is quite dark yet not heavy. It has a gentle bitterness from Chellenger hops to complement its full body and has been carefully finished with goldings for aroma. The name has been taken from the date of Tirril's brewing rooms as found on Cottingham's plans of Brougham Hall.

Smell of apples/pears , thin head, warm copper in colour. Apple/pears also come out in the taste, not a bad bitter.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival, 4 February 2010. Amber colour. Sweetish but fruity. As the commercial description suggest it is quite full bodied for a 4.1% bitter. Decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Some more bittering hops wouldn’t have gone amiss.

Cask, handpump at Cambridge BF ’07. Coppery amber. Sweet honey and caramel aroma. Fruit and malt in the taste. The malt continues to be rich and sweet, never quite overtaken by the bitterness. Perhaps I’m missing something. This one came very late in the festival.
