Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy aroma. Storng chocolate notes. Light sweeet and bitter chocolate flavor. Average light bitter finish. Watery palate. Totally unharmonic beer.

Cask @ Three Pigeons, Halifax. Extremely dark, but not quite black, with a thick, creamy, slightly off-white head. It does what it says on the tin - it’s both chocolate and vanilla in aroma and taste, with the former dominant in its nose. It is thinner in its texture than you’d expect it to be though.

Bottle from Titanic Brewery. Pours a deep brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, some vanilla, slight oats and subtle roasted malts. Taste of chocolate, some roasted malts, slight vanilla, subtle oats and a little earth. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted, chocolate bitterness in the finish. Superb aroma of chocolate and vanilla, however the taste is a little dryer, some roastiness, subtle earth but it’s still a tasty stout. Amazing on cask.

the aroma is caramel and chocolate with hints of vanilla, robust and brown sugar... the taste is chocolate and caramel with notes of roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, toffee and some spices... sweet and bitter aftertaste...

Direct from the barrel. The vanilla and chocolate is fragrantly evident. Pours expresso black with bubbly head but no lace. A rich mouthful with the vanilla accenting the sweetness of the roasted malt. The chocolate lurks. There is a bitterness left on the palate but this is exactly what it says - chocolate & vanilla. A change rather than a habit. I suspect it could do wonders on draft at a care home that needed to cure overcrowding. A kindness.

Smooth, sweet, tasty. My first ’love at first sip’ brew. Definite chocolate and vanilla aroma and taste. Not easy to find on tap or in stores, however.

Cask. Pour is black with a thin frothy head, aroma is toffee chocolate. Taste is toffee, chocolate, coffee, malty, gentle bitterness. Good stuff

Cask at the Wellington; dark brown pour with a bubbly light tan head, big vanilla and chocolate aroma, taste has pleasant vanilla, with chocolate, some roast malts, nice creamy mouthfeel, light bitterness.

Cask@wellington, birmingham. Black beer with small bubbly head. Aroma of chocolate, roast coffee and vanilla. Taste is quite strong vanilla, chocolate and roast malts. Light to medium bodied. Very good.

Cask at The Blacksmith’s Arms, St Albans on 29 Sep 2012. Poured black, with a dense tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla pods and dark malt. Fairly full mouth feel. Some roast flavours, mixed with cocoa and chocolate cake. Finish was cappuccino, dates and burnt malt.
