3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Tar black with a ring of cream head; vanilla aroma; flavour starts with sweet vanilla but then develops a big hot of chocolate malts with lingering tobacco and smoke overtones; the finish has more vanilla and chocolate over some strong leafy hops, leaving a rasping ending. Iím not sure Iíd have more than one of these.

vanilla pods and stout donít mix this beer is garbage, stout should not be sickly sweet and taste of a poor custard

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Before I say anything else... let me say this was GOOD! Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is unsurprisingly chocolate and vanilla with some roasted malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a weak bodied slightly watery palate and weak bitter finish. This beer delivers up front and itís oh so good but needs more in the body and a longer finish.

Pleasantly surprised by this, not sure what was expecting but it wasnít,t this. There is a very slight sweetness to it but works well.

Hand-pulled half-pint during the 35th Telford Beer festival: The Crown Inn, Oakengates.
Good, dark looking brew: black with a tanned head.
The aroma and taste were very chocolate and vanilla in nature: an íafter eightí mint sort of feel but without the mint bit!
Really took to this: I like the sweeter brews and this was right up my street: rich, creamy and true to itís name.

Bottle. Black with a small head. Chocolate dominates although I couldnít detect much vanilla. Quite strong chocolate and malty aftertaste. Different and rather excellent.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Cask, GBBF 2013): Very dark brown with a tiny bit of beige head. Huge aroma of vanilla, dark chocolate and a touch of something earthy or leafy. Taste is big on vanilla. The dark chocolate elements are overpowered by the vanilla as opposed to being balanced in the aroma. Itís a nice brew but could be so much better if the taste is balanced better.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask @ gbbf, tiny sample. Aroma of some roasted and chocolatey malts with a thick blanket of vanilla on top. Fairly dry in taste, could have used some more sweetness. Think score would go down like the Titanic when drinking a larger sample ...

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at Harp. Pours a dark black with a reddy brown edge. Thin tan head. Coke and spiced rum aroma with some choc. Medium body, light carbonation. The flavour has those aromatic elements happening too but there's a bitter choc, almost cooking choc thing going on too. The vanilla coke thing and rum are also present. It's OK.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
My Bottom Line:
A tart splash undermines the chocolate and vanilla building a vinous, vegetal finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the darkness.
-Donít know if this brew turned in the brewery or at the pub, but it wasnít in good shape at all.
-Green peppers appeared in the finish.
-Leafy hop bitterness appeared lost within the tartness.
-Carbonation was very low.
-Cherry fruitiness can be found too.
On cask at The Star Inn, Bath.
