DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Jan 19, 2008 Cask handpull, The Merchant, Rugby. Pale and lacy. Surely a golden ale? Musty mandarin hop nose packed with intense citrus. Stings with hop bitterness. Summery, crisp, hoppy and not an ESB. DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Mar 1, 2006 Cask Handpump at Wetherspoons, Manchester 11/12/2001
Golden coloured and smooth on the palate with some citrus aroma. Dry hop finish. SilkTork (3853), Rochester, Kent, England Jan 6, 2006 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/10/10495/Golden_Lion/Rochester>JDW, Rochester. Copper coloured best bitter. Soft, rusty iron malt with a mild fruit and a dusty finish. Hangs together well. A pleasant soothing drink. imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Dec 30, 2005 Cask Conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Hazed gold colour with thin head. This was blooming freezing and I didn’t have time to warm it up, I know I go on about Wetherspoons, but at least they could try and serve a decent pint. What I could taste is a sweet malted beer with a spicy hop overnote. Sluggish on the finish. Hope to try it again elsewhere. chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Dec 7, 2005 Cask (handpump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn. A solid, if unspectacular offering. Standard copper colour. Full malt and tangy hops in good balance. I didn’t find it "honey sweet". Smooth and well tempered. Christmas character didn’t exactly leap out though.
