Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - December.
Rung to signify the end of the last watch of day. This tawny coloured robust beer is honey sweet but balanced with delightful hop character. Let the bells peel for Christmas and ring out the old and ring in the new.

Cask handpull, The Merchant, Rugby. Pale and lacy. Surely a golden ale? Musty mandarin hop nose packed with intense citrus. Stings with hop bitterness. Summery, crisp, hoppy and not an ESB.

<a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/10/10495/Golden_Lion/Rochester>JDW, Rochester. Copper coloured best bitter. Soft, rusty iron malt with a mild fruit and a dusty finish. Hangs together well. A pleasant soothing drink.

Cask Conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Hazed gold colour with thin head. This was blooming freezing and I didn’t have time to warm it up, I know I go on about Wetherspoons, but at least they could try and serve a decent pint. What I could taste is a sweet malted beer with a spicy hop overnote. Sluggish on the finish. Hope to try it again elsewhere.

Cask (handpump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn. A solid, if unspectacular offering. Standard copper colour. Full malt and tangy hops in good balance. I didn’t find it "honey sweet". Smooth and well tempered. Christmas character didn’t exactly leap out though.
