Jan 19, 2008 Cask handpull, The Merchant, Rugby. Pale and lacy. Surely a golden ale? Musty mandarin hop nose packed with intense citrus. Stings with hop bitterness. Summery, crisp, hoppy and not an ESB.

Dec 30, 2005 Cask Conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Hazed gold colour with thin head. This was blooming freezing and I didn’t have time to warm it up, I know I go on about Wetherspoons, but at least they could try and serve a decent pint. What I could taste is a sweet malted beer with a spicy hop overnote. Sluggish on the finish. Hope to try it again elsewhere.

Dec 7, 2005 Cask (handpump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn. A solid, if unspectacular offering. Standard copper colour. Full malt and tangy hops in good balance. I didn’t find it "honey sweet". Smooth and well tempered. Christmas character didn’t exactly leap out though.

Dec 5, 2005 Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby (JDW) Canterbury. Chestnut brown with lasting beige head. Some ginger nut biscuit flavour. Smooth in mouth , some ginger/spice/hop on the end. Quite well made and decent winter session bitter
