duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 9, 2008 Updated: Apr 10, 2008 Cask. Nice enough. Some green apple in the aroma which fades as you work your way through the pint. palate is soft and dusty, with some nice soft apple fruit and then some roastyness (but actually not very much at all). Quite dry in the finish. wasn’t bad, but didn’t really get my attention.
DruncanVeasey (1913), No. 46, Leicestershire, England Jan 4, 2009 The Knott, Manchester. Oily with ruby glints and a lunar collar. Snout muted port, cask wood, bags of roasted barley. Mouth chewy with prune, port splashes, astringent dry hops. Rich and headachy. Found myself longing for more roast and aromatic hopping. Disappointing Doppelganger (1260), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Dec 30, 2008 Cask. Think it was Turf Tavern, but failed to mention the "where" in my notes. Black, nice dark layer of foam. Nutty coffee aroma, very light but pleasant. Toffee sweetness, a bit of coffee. Very pleasant unassuming porter. peuasa (34), Salvador, Brazil Oct 28, 2008 On tap in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, in April/2008. Dark brown colour with a creamy head. Very nice porter. bobinlondon (485), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 12, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. A black coloured beer with a tan head and lacing. The aroma is roasty with caramel and chocolate notes also. The taste has coffee and some sweet notes. Tasty and moreish.
Ethereal (1167), London, Greater London, England Jun 27, 2008 Cask, JDW, 4th April 2008. Standard dark brown porter appearance. Aroma and flavour both boast ashy smokiness and a dark malt sweetness. Quite light in the mouth given the strength.
