Cast yourself adrift with this fruity and malty, red brown bittersweet beer. It has a serene caramel character and the finish is dry and fruity. Hops: Yakima Galena, Goldings.

A hazy mid to dark brown coloured beer with a weak white head. A light malty nose with a slightly hint of yeastiness. The taste is bitter, malty with a slightly fruity flavour. The yeasty element is present again. The finish is quite long and bitter. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Cask conditioned at The Plough, Warmington, Warks. Muddy brown with no head. This was in awful condition, a vinegar nose with a flat, monotonous palate. There was some fruit, berry, but overall this Lifeboat had gone down with the ship. Terrible.

(Cask at Knott, Mancester, 27 July) Colour is dark amber with a firm off-white head. Nose is malty, nutty and a bit citrussy (or maybe acidic?). Taste is malty and nutty with dried fruit and dusty hops in the finish. Buttery acidic notes indicating not the best of forms. I’ll give it another try sometime.

Cask @ Wetherspoons. 16/05/06. Tea coloured body again with no head. Some sultanas in the taste also a little orangey but very little body, fruit on the nose - sultana- very light.

Cask at Last Drop Inn York 3 May 06. Golden brown colour. Fruity body. Almost no bitterness. OK but not great.

Cask Conditioned at The Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe. Amber coloured. Aroma of fruit esters and some alcohol. Warm, fruit flavour, candy apple but well balanced by a touch of dryness. This had more alcohol and body than the 4% ABV might suggest.
