A light malty nose with a slightly hint of yeastiness. The taste is bitter, malty with a slightly fruity flavour. The yeasty element is present again. The finish is quite long and bitter. | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Sep 17, 2006 Cask conditioned at The Plough, Warmington, Warks. Muddy brown with no head. This was in awful condition, a vinegar nose with a flat, monotonous palate. There was some fruit, berry, but overall this Lifeboat had gone down with the ship. Terrible. Nose is malty, nutty and a bit citrussy (or maybe acidic?). Taste is malty and nutty with dried fruit and dusty hops in the finish. Buttery acidic notes indicating not the best of forms. I’ll give it another try sometime. bluevegie (2232), Perth, Australia

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2006 Cask Conditioned at The Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe. Amber coloured. Aroma of fruit esters and some alcohol. Warm, fruit flavour, candy apple but well balanced by a touch of dryness. This had more alcohol and body than the 4% ABV might suggest.
