[Cask at Charlies Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy deep red beer with a small beige head. The nose is light, but sweet with notes of berries especially lingonberries. The flavor is sweet and very bitter with notes of bisquites besides some floral notes.

Cask at Wellington, Birmingham Dark mahogany color, beautiful with its red shades. The aroma shows a suspicious light trace of apples. The flavor has some quite good dark caramel and roasted malts, with traces of apples too, and correct bitterness. I wonder about the bitterness, but it’s a pretty good Bitter.

Dark red coloured and smooth on the palate. Some citrus flavour.

Cask conditioned at The Plough, Warmington, Warks. Muddy brown with no head. This was in awful condition, a vinegar nose with a flat, monotonous palate. There was some fruit, berry, but overall this Lifeboat had gone down with the ship. Terrible.

Cask (@Three Legged Mare, York): Amber coloured, quite stable creamy off-white head; distinctive toasty and dry fruity nose; moderate to solid dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied, but not watery; lingering malty and dry bitter finish. Pleasant and tasty.....

Cask (handpump), Wetherspoons, Victoria Station. A dark copper coloured ale with a smooth, off-white, head. Not crystal clear. Soft, fruity aroma. More forest fruits on the palate with some caramel malt, There’s a decent underlying citric hop character, with some resinous notes ) no doubt coming from the American hops) that provides good balance. The flavours are quite restrained and subtle. The mouthfeel is perhaps a tad thin but, otherwise, a pretty good beer. I didn’t really think this is a mild either, so I’ve changed the style.

A Mes rate:

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2008 Cask Handpump at ’The Harp’ Covent Garden, London 16-03-06. I thought the Harveys Sussex was unbeatable today until I tried this. A wonderful dark red beer with little head to speak of. The sweetness and bitterness are very good kept getting a pleasant vanilla taste with each slurp ’its difficult too sip’. Extremely good beer. Cask at the Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon, 15-06-08 in the company of Loz, Casey and Traci Dark brown light mahogany colour with a slight off white creamy head. Taste is fresh, even a little earthy, bit citrussy some pithiness comes through, hoppy on the end, tangy, marvellous.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (6116) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2011
Cask handpull, The Shoes, Nuneaton, 14/05/11. Chestunt with a level beige top. Slick condition; cherry and apple Chewits dominate; hay and cocoa hints, astringent afters. Fake apple and burnt wood aroma. Trace of bile and copper. What a frustating brewery.
