Handpump at City Arms, Manchester. Expected better, there really wasn’t much to this. Dark ruby colour, cream head. Very mild aroma and flavour, too thin. Good pub though.

1 Pint Cask @ Wenlock Arms - quite an authentic experience having this over there...run-down pub serving bunch of obscure cask stuff, stuffed with locals and a pretty good jazz band playing inside of what is a not very big place... looks black with some light whine shades at the bottom of the glass. As with cask, the glass if fulled topped up leaving only some beige bubbles for a head. Smell is sweet dark fruits, roasted malts, instant cacao powder, instant coffee. Taste is rather muddled conjonction of dark fruits, roasted malts, lots of cacao powder, instant coffee, nuts, some bitter herbal hops in the back, leaves, old autumn leaves. Surprisingly full bodied for the ABV - even outside of ABV not bad. It is frankly quite a mess but I like it.

Half pint, gravicask, shared with Finn at The Redhill Beer Festival. Deep, black body with a brownish shade. Naked surface. Dark semi-sweet malts to the nose. Dark caramel malts in a flavour profile that’s also contains elements of anise and plums. Dark, mid-dry bitter finish. Drinks well without being diluted, 02.11.2012.

Handpull at The Wenlock Arms. Deep ruby-brown, not hazy small but lasting tan frothy head. Very mild aroma - medium roast, dry, some cucumber, weirdly enough. Taste follows, a bit sweeter, no alcohol. Quite light-bodied, slick, weak carbonation - slight mint/floral aftertaste. Not bad.
