COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - April and May.
Brewed to celebrate Mild Month this dark ruby beer has a knotty juxtaposition. Sweetness from the dark malts preludes the smooth dryness of the hops. "Nautical but Nice".

Poured a deep ruby red with a thin, dense white head. Aroma of roast malt and chocolate. Medium to weak body, flavour is as the aroma with some bitter nuttyness.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 10 June. Very dark pour and coffee and ripe fruit aromas. Very nice, full bodied mouth feel, but easy drinking. Sweetness balanced by some light dark chocolate bitterness. Quite quaffable.

Cask @ Standing Order,Derby. Delicious beer, packed with crunchy roast malt flavours, and a very satisfying hoppy bitterness. Looks fab too, typically dark with a good whitish head. Went well with my Sunday roast lunch at this busy JDs. A wee bit stronger than most milds, but still a great example, very smooth and moreish. Must teach the wife to drive so I could have more than a pint when I find a crackin’ beer like this.

Cask@Kitty’s, Helsinki. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is wood, some caramel and some mild nuttyness. Flavour is quite strong nuttyness, caramel malts, some slight toffeeish notes as well as slight grassy and wooden notes. Very pleasant flavour.

My Bottom Line:
Prunes, vanilla and wet stones are met by a sudden earthy hop bitterness in this characterful Mild Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the dark brown with ochre highlights.
-The hop bitterness is quite lengthy, partly due to the dry finish.
-Mouthfeel is a bit limp but never short on flavor.
-Malt flavors could be tighter.

On cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen.

Cask conditioned @ JDW, Winchester. Liquorice, molasses and malty fruit aromas. Light refreshing body. A touch of treacle sweetness and spicy finish. A very drinkable mild with some complexity.

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival 06. Brown amber beer with lacy head. A decent midlands mild this, nicely understated flavours, lightish malts with a degree of fruitiness and sweetness finishing off with a little bitterness. Mild as I remember it.
