Cask and bottle
Indian Pale Ales were sent to the troops at the height of the British Empire, the alcohol preserving the beer during the long voyage. This honey golden beer delights the palette with initial sweetness that rapidly fades as the powerful citrus hops take over. Clean and refreshing in taste above the waterline the boldness and strength lurks beneath and there is more of it than you can imagine.

Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear deep golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of orange, honey, some pine, a little lemon, a hint of apricot, slight toffee and subtle grassy hops. Taste of orange, honey, a little lemon, a hint of grapefruit, slight resin, some toffee, a little diacetyl and subtle grassy hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A oily, dry, resinous hop bitterness in the finish. A boozy IPA with more citrus and resin than I imagined. Lots of toffee malt but maybe a little unbalanced at times, also a little oily.

Cask at Ealing beer festival 2014. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, tropical fruit, citrus fruit, initially sweet then the bitterness kicks in. Really good stuff.

Cask – JDW Fest Spring 2012 - Orangey Gold in colour. Very Fruity; citrus orange and tropical fruits. Hoppy; grassy hops, hint of piney resinous hops. Malty; sweet biscuity malts, toffee. Sweet very fruity malty meets mildly bitter hoppy throughout. Good strong cask ale. Very drinkable.

Shared 500ml bottle in De Bierboom, Brugge during a ’Belgian Beer Board’ website bottle exchange on 31st Jan 2014. Clear golden, light amber body with minimal head of white wispiness. Semi-sweet malty nose with a mini floral and citrus undertone: same with the taste, malty front which sits back and allows the hops to take over. Decent enough and a good foil in between some heavy hitters during the evening of tasting.

Bottle bought from The Royal Exchange, Stone. Pours a clear golden colour with a one-finger white head. Aroma is hoppy, with a big citrus punch. Taste is citrus again, hoppy and slightly malty. Decent carbonation and lingering bitterness. Good!

Una buona golden ale, anche se la descriziobe sulla bottiglia la definiva dolce (e li ci siamo) e con un gusto da luppolo citrico nel finale (e questo manca)... una buona birra, ma da Titanic ci si aspetterebbe ben altro !!

Spring 2012. JDW, Rochester. A pleasant sweet biscuit and honey malt with some very robust citric and dusty hops. Initially pleasing the hops intrude and don’t settle well with the malt. I loved this at first, but then it became a little too much.

Being 5.9% really helps. It is normal otherwise. So some pissy something a little soap and a few hops. Pissy is ok btw.

Bottle. Golden with a small head. Hoppy with a medium body. Quite smooth with a distinctive flavour. Well bottled bu not quite as good as I had hoped for.

Bottle from Bernie’s Real Ale off licence, Solihull. Poured a clear light amber with a thin white head. The aroma is malty and a litlle hoppy. The flavour is medium bitter, with lots of rich malt and a very bitter aromatic palate. A very flavourful and refreshing ale.
