The Titanic sailed in the days when Britain really did rule the waves. British craftsmen produced perfectly proportioned vessels that slipped sweetly into the sea. Let this golden hoppy bear slip down and enjoy those halcyon days once more.

Cask half-pint in The Rocklands Club, Redditch on 16th June 2014. Pours a misty gold with a full white head with a creamy texture. Hop laden brew with a dry front, back and sides. I think it was getting to the end of the barrel as it appeared to be ’on the turn’ somewhat. Scored as if in perfect condition.

Cask at the Broad Street Tavern, Wokingham on 8 June. Poured a hazy amber, with a thin, rocky white head. Aroma was fairly light; some caramel, malt and grassy hop. Some citrus fruit initially, followed by grain and then a building bitterness. Finish was really, really dry and bitter, somewhat waxy with unripe fruit and straw. Not altogether unpleasant, mind.

Cask at Market Porter, London. A dark golden coloured pour with a medium white head. Malty, hoppy aroma. Tastes malty, fruity, bitter. Expected more from a Titanic beer.

On cask at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Golden amber colour. There’s a smattering of citric hop but it’s not exactly assertive. Perfectly drinkable but I can’t say it made much of an impact - just too many similar beers at this festival and this one didn’t stand out from the crowd.

Gravity cask dispense, one-third pint at The Mid West Bar, GBBF 09. Golden body with a slight haze. Filmy white layer. Floral fruity aromas. Nice bitter fruits from start to finish. Lingering bitterness to the aftertaste. Well bodied. A good English bitter (Earls Court, 07.08.2009).
