3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 visionthing (1667) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 13, 2012
50cl bottle at Bittles Bar, Belfast. Pours very dark brown, almost black with a small off-white head. Light aroma of roasted malt with hints of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Lightly sweet with a nicely balanced bitterness. Quite light in flavour, but a pleasant stout that goes down easy. Refreshing and very nice stout. (2011-06-09)
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (2367) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before 11th June 2009, drank late Jan 2009.
Poured into a Uk pint sleeve glass.
Dark: no darker than what you are thinking, we are talking, really dark, coalface dark. The tan head sat on top doesn’t, can’t hang around for long, it drops to a thin covering and a bit of lacing even before I started to drink the brew.
The aroma is dark chocolate first, then coffee, then toasted oatmeal biscuits and malt.
The taste is a mix of the smells, more burnt than toasted, but still true to chocolate, coffee and oatmeal. Hops and roasted peanuts can also be added to the rich flavours found in this beer.
Creamy and fullbodied, the flavours stay in the mouth. It feels well above the 4.5% it claims, the alcohol sits happily within the brew, but appears stronger in the aftertaste.
A very drinkable stout.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 wimpyjoe (1692) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2012
Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla! Strong in both aroma and taste and has a good body.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (1205) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAR 11, 2012
Sampled this smashing stout in the Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2006. Cask, handpump dispense. Jet black in colour with a thick creamy buff white head. Good thick texture to the silky smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate powder present in the short aroma. Chocolate malts predominate the initial taste with dry coffee and bitter plain chocolate. Bitter sweet flavours seep through next with roasted almonds and sweet cream in the aftertaste. Finish is dry, malty and smooth with barley grain present. A lovely session stout and well recommended..
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Bendrixian (677) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 10, 2012
Super high in carbonation. kinda clear colour. roast, choclate, almond bitter aroma. has a funky note. high cabonated brew, medium bodied, flavours are wiped clean by carbonated.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Atheist_Peace (707) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 10, 2012
500ml bottle. Dark mahogany pour with mountains of head that takes forever to dissipate and leaves a little lace. Light coffee, licorice and dark chocolate notes on the nose with a little hint of spice. The carbonation is far too heavy but the palate is about the same as the nose. Finishes a little weak as well.
3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 PaulW (80) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 18, 2012
A nice chocolaty stout, with hints of dark treacle and liquorice. Initially sweet, hops kick in later, although their effect is for balance rather than taste. Moreish.

bit of a lively bottle. massive foam billowing head.
deep deep darkness in the glass and loads of roasted coffee in the nose. in the mouth there is also some licorice, chocolate and a lovely roasted malt finish. bags of flavour could possibly use a littel more alcohol.
pleasently surprised
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Vinegar92 (61) - Matera, ITALY - DEC 3, 2011
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 omega (492) - NEW ZEALAND - DEC 3, 2011
Frothy coarse head, with a cocoa nose which reminds me of my homebrew days. Not the richest of stouts but it does have decent length in the palate. This would be the fourth time I have tried this beer in the last six months and would have to say they tend to quite variable.
