(Cask) It sounds boring, but all I can say is that it’s a nice, basic stout. It’s not smooth to the point of seeming artificial, not much aroma and although it’s a tough mild it’s fairly tasty.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crude oil like colour with a very thin tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is of malt and spice. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with loads of spice and pepper, oh and not forgetting that alcoholic liquorice bitterness on the palate! Titanic ales taste so much better cask in the pub than they do from a bottle!

Black colour with a beige top that leaves a fine lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium body. Moderate fine sweetness and a moderate bitterness. Tasty nice stout with toffee, coffee, chocolate and roasted malt.

Bottle - Coffee and cocoa aroma. Dark brown, minimal head. Wonderful balance, no overt alcohol or bitterness. Roasted notes and mild chocolate and coffee. A very sessionable stout that has a nice low abv.

500 mL bottle to taster Dark chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, and cocoa. Deep brown with slight tan head. Taste is sweet initially, then sour and ends with a deep long lasting bitterness. Medium bodied for a stout and creamy.

Not refering to a size comparisson, but a direct reference to a sinking ship that took of thousands of lives downwards with it. This is a beer that starts quite exciting, with a whiff of bitter chocolate, but it soon disappears into nothingness, if not behind a skunky smell. Black with an off-white head, it would look great if not for a few seconds that takes for the head to disappear. Medium to light bodied, it does feel watery, in spite of a light chalkiness. The flavours of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate are overwhelmed by the carbonation, which is not light at all, and by the excessive hoppy bitterness and sourness. Hard to taste it properly, with all the phenols that explode into the mouth from that excessive carbonation, even though the alcoholic % is not high at all. The bitterness is unpleasant, perhaps some hop variety out of place, a citric, metallic tinge. As if it wasn’t bad enough to see fair rides with a Titanic theme...
