No doubt whatsoever that sometimes the mood fits. This average beer is just right for now. Creamy white head and a smooth swallow with a skim of hops. Refreshing and not that tasty.

Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a clear amber with a long living frothy white head and broken lace. The aroma is malty and buttery, leading to a medium bitter flavour with a nice hoppy bitter palate with some smooth caramel notes. A very refreshing beer, particularly in the summer time.

Bottle. Light gold with a thick white bubbly head. Lemon and berry nose. Quite light in the mouth, with initital malt sweetness quickly being swept away by the lemon/grapefruit hops and a swiftly appearing dry finish with a nice amount of flavour remaining beyond the drink. Solid.

Cask at Wetherspoon, Birmingham Airport public area Hazy golden color, with small creamy head. Simple aroma, light malt. Some malt and caramel flavor, the yeast character reminds the Belgian ales, it has a grassy touch, and relatively strong bitterness. Pleasant, but not very British.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BlackHaddock (2350) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2012
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2012 Update:16th Aug 2012: hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherpoons.
Having had a bottle of this some years ago I was intrigued to see if the cask version was any better: it was.
Mid-golden body with a head of white bubbles that tried to stay the distance. The smell was semi-sour citrusy and mildly malty.
Taste wise it fell nicely into the regular citrusy hop fronted brew so often favoured in the UK at the moment: then the malts kicked in and it wasn’t so hoppy/citrusy any more. So a pleasant blend of flavours and almost interesting.
May 2008: Brown 500ml bottle drank five days before its best by date.
Poured into a pint sleeve glass.
Pale for an English Bitter, almost lager like in appearance even down to the weak and thin white head.
Heavy citrus aromas, but not a sour grapefruit or lemon smell.
The taste follows the aromas, citrusy and almost tart.
Dry aftertaste and some metalic feel as well, the beer went downhill as it warmed.
Strange beer to me, not one I’ll look for again.

Cask conditioned handpump Cordwainer Northampton. A blonde to gold coloured beer with a nice white head and lacing. A decent citrussy hoppy beer. Grapefruit and lemon notes. A good length of flavour where the malts balance nicely. Tasty and well constructed.
