Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with a rough off-white head. Discreet aroma, a little fruit, caramel and alcohol. Medium body, sweet caramel, nuts with a rather bitter and alcoholic finish. A little rough. 161209

Bottle, bought @ LIVA, Kolding.
Pours deep brown with a nice, small, creamy, yellowish head. Very sweet aroma with milky caramel, some grass, light nutty. Low carbonation, lovely oily mouthfeel. Flavour is slightly harsh actually. A little metallic. Some viniousness. Otherwise heavy on the caramel, nuttiness, lightly roasted notes and quite a heavy hoppy bitterness in the finish. A tad weird but fairly drinkable.

berkshirejohn (4462) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 6, 2009
50cl of Christmas Ale at 7.6% from Utobeer, Borough Market. A slightly hazy golden brown with a small and rapidly fading off-white head. Rich christmas cake aroma with glace fruit, brandy, port, raisins and caramel and just a hint of vanilla. Thick, oily, texture, with a luscious booze-soaked fruit cake flavour - with chunks of apricot and pineapple as well as raisins and sultanas. The finish is warming and port-like and covers the alcohol really well. Excellent, even though Christmas was five months ago.

Bottle at the rake with mes, ian and chris. Alround rating: The cad pulls one out the bag with his super power exstreme memory that others can only marvel at. Big ruby malt character, rich fruit cake, a bit yeasty, no hops. Alround a good effort.

500ml bottle at The Rake courtesy of MagicDave6. Ruby, thin white head. It’s a bit syrupy, some red fruits. Not a great, even slightly farty aroma. Syrupy fruits in the mouth. In fact, too syrupy for me.

A Mes rate. Bottle from the Rake. An amazing bright ruby colour but no head at all. Nice creamy alcohol and cakey malt. Chunky dark fruit and a pleasing liquidice note. Straight forward but very enjoyable.

500ml bottle from Nelson Wines. Deep amber / brown. Fruity nose. Rich malt, stewed fruit and warming alcohol in the mouth and a smooth rich palate. It goes down surprisingly fast! Nice stuff.

Cask - Fat Cat, Norwich. A reddy brown colour with a slight beige head. Full fruity and tobacco aromas disperse towards the nose along with its noticeable alcohol content. The flavours are warming, a decidedly berry-like fruitiness. Quite a syrupy mouthfeel that saturates the whole palate. This was too sweet in pint form for me but it was a pleasant drink.

Bottled as Christmas ale 2005.A perfect example of what can go wrong with a bottle conditioned ale. Brown appearance with a sour aroma.Initial impressions were not good but got worse.Vinegary is the only way to describe this beer that was just about drinkable. Drinking this was not a very pleasant experience.
