Decent but the malt bill is too "clean" and modern. The beer seems too clear and sterile.

Pleasantly surprising, definetly pick up the beechwood in aroma, also some quality molassas/chocolate malting. Flavor is the same, smoke not the intensity of the German brews ,but surprisingly distinct, one of the best midwest smoked beers i have had

Draft at the OF. Oh yes, finally a Rauchbier makes it’s way to the Fash. Filtered looking, deep amber brown, approaching a Portery color. Certainly reminiscent of the greats like Schlenkerla. A great smoked beer, straight down the middle, perhaps with a little bonus chocolate malt.

From Skyview. Aroma has oak with light smoke. Moderate smoke in the flavor, with a thin but appropriate malt body. Very dark brown, with a medium palate. A fine job from a small brewpub. Certainly recognizable as a smoked beer. I wish more small brewers would give this style a go.

Crushed with Jakebra and co. at the brewery. Aight. Smoke. Bacon. Awesome. Pretty sexy.

Draught at GABF 2008. Clear nutbrown - white head. Smokey, nutty, bread, smooth, malty sweetness, ryebread, high malty, grainy. Nice.

Growler from Skyview. Dark brown color with a medium head. Light smokey aroma. Lots more smoke in the flavor. Plenty of that good, Bamburg smoke. Dry grain finish.

(growler from Skyview) Pours light brown with an off-white head. The aroma is composed of a lot of campfire wood, some chocolate, and lightly burnt microwave popcorn. The taste is very nice with a great balance of sweet and smoky flavors. Some chocolate, roasted malt, and of course smoke show up, but one doesn’t dominate over the other. This was a pretty good beer, that would be quite sessionable.

I’ve had only a handful of experiences with rauchbiers. It was a nice brew from Ttown, however i expected a lot more coming through in its smokey character. Pours a dark copper colour with a medium sized white head. aroma is oaky, slightly smokey and nutty. Taste is rich, lighter then i imagined but pleasent adn creamy.

Pours a deep ruby color with a large off-white head with lots of lacing. Aroma is like a mix between a smoldering campfire, and smoked summer sausage. Taste is smoked malts, with syrupy richness, and a bitter finish. A very good smoked beer.
