Thirsty Troll Beer Fest. Pour is deep brown with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of chocolate and moderately roasted coffee beans. Flavor shows sweet caramel with more roasted presence and a touch of earthy hops. Pretty much no smoke to be found. As it warms there seems to be a hint of smoke, but it’s so faint that I could be imagining it. This was served way too cold and doesn’t much remind me of a schwarz, more like a thin porter.

Another nice beer. Dark pour with light head. Nose of chocolate, coffee and toasty goodness. Flavor is crisp, light and had good roasted character.

Very clever name for this tasty schwarzbier! Pours a deep black and has a nice roasty aroma and flavor to it.

On tap at Fox Cities Brewfest. Pour was dark with an aroma of chocolate roasted wheat and light coffee. Blend was nice with a light body and flavors of yeast, dry wheat, light chocolate, and a touch of roasted characters. Good brew.

Pours a reddish-brown with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel and nutty malts. Taste is about the same with a bit of chocolate and smokiness. Quite drinkable.

On tap at The Old Fashioned. Opaque black tan head. Light roasty and spiced aroma. Lots of roast in the taste with almost cinnamon hints in the finish. Medium bodied

TAP at Titletown. Pour is black. Aroma of subtle coffee, chocolate, and malt. Taste is a bit sweet. Medium body. One of the better beers on their line-up.

Had a sample as part of the epic 14-beer sample flight at the brewpub. I don’t normally like schwarzbier, but this was very good. It didn’t have much of what I don’t like (smoke), and was fruitier than average (they were low on time, so they fermented it as an ale). Refreshing.

Served in a pint glass with only light tan rim foam remaining. Very dark - dark brown, almost black. Complex aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and grains. Taste was extremely rich and complimented my Walleye fillet nicely. Great mouthfeel and this stuff finished real smooth. If you ever get to Green Bay, you need to stop in at Titletown!
