This creamy red-brown Scottish-style "90 Shilling" ale has flavors of rich malt, dark caramel, fresh bread, and fruit as well as bits of peat smoke and roasted barley which balance its semi-sweet finish. Like most Scottish ales, this brew is malt-focused because Scotlandís climate is unfriendly to hop cultivation.

Lively fruit in the nose. Body is a little thin. Dark golden color with silky, clinging head. Peat and smoke flavors but in moderate amounts. Light bitterness.

On tap at Titletown. Poured medium amber with a dusting of beige head. The aroma was sweeter and slightly smoky with nutty and caramel backing.. fruity notes emerged as it warmed up.. got almost syrupy.. I liked it. The flavor had caramel and dark fruity sweetness at the core with peaty smoke and earthy bitterness surrounding.. some components clashed a bit. Medium-bodied and spicy on the palate with not-too-good a flow to it.. long, lingering finish with a touch of smoke. Aiight.

[Growler] shared at Skyviewís Lex/Larp Cellars Farewell. Pours a clear brown with a small beige head. Aroma is slightly peaty with some sweet malts. Flavor is peaty, earthy, and a touch malty. Mouthfeel is thin with low carbonation.

How I forgot to rate this I donít know. After having many pints of many different beers over a course of two days at Titletown. Poured a semi clear, but dark reddish amber colour with medium sized head. Nutty and roasted malts on the nose, flavour again is nutty, with a hint of toffee in the finish. I wish it was just a little heavier. Not as good as last yearís scotch.

(growler from Skyview) Pours dark brown with a little white head. Aroma is peaty, sweet, light cherry, and some caramel as well. The taste is sweet at first, with some cherry, caramel, but quickly changes over to a really good and lingering peaty finish. This was really good.

Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a medium head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts and a bit of peat. Lots more of the peat in the taste. Very band-aidy. Salty. Sweet malt and a bit of caramel. Finishes with a little butterscotch.

On draught at the Titletown brewpub in downtown Green Bay, WIsconsin. Pours a copper amber brew with a decent off-white head that slowly dissipates to a creamy white top and excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some smoked wood, flowery hops, a hint of peat and toffee. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of smoked and roasted caramel malt, toffee, a hint of hard fruits and some dry herbs. Finish continues the smoked caramel malt with peat, semi-sweet with no bitterness. A nice solid Scottish Ale without the higher alcohol.

On tap at Titletown. Pours a rich coppery color with whispy white head. Aroma is of smoke, caramel, toasted malt and light hops. Taste is smoked peat, light caramel and toffee and mild toasted grain. Iím not a big fan of the style, but this one is really good. The smoke is great and plays well with everything else but isnít overpowering. Delicious!
