Railyard Ale is crafted in the Altbier style which is one of the few ales that originate from Germany. Unlike the Dusseldorf style, this beer is crafted in the Northern German tradition which results in a more balanced flavor due to a decreased hop emphasis. This garnet colored brew possesses a medium body with a significant toasty malt presence. As is traditional, only German Spalter Spalt hops are used to impart a distinctly German hop character.

Had a sample as part of the epic 14-beer sample flight at the brewpub. Spicy, slightly peppery, a little hollow-tasting.
