This puppy is an IPA beaten with juniper berries and sea-buckthorn and trashed with hops. It is a celebration of a potent beer culture shared between scandinavia and the baltic region. Ingredients: Water, Malt, Seabuckthorn, Hops (Centennial, Columbus and Cluster), Juniper Berries and Yeast.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Thick looking in the glass but very very murky and cloudy. Thin dribble of a head with an aroma that is a cross between earthiness and fruitiness. Quite lively in the mouth with a dry aftertaste.

Draught @ Beer Temple. Pours orange-yellow and very hazy. Little foam. Nose is modest berry fruits, but this is silence before the storm. This baby explodes in your mouth with light yeast, STRONG hard dry hops and hints of berries. Modest ABV. Only gripe is palate is a bit flat and left for dead after drinking, but with such hops that is to be expected. Glorious....

Bottle, 10C on a hot night. Hazy verging on soupy gold with a loose white head that fades to a coat. Aroma of sharp grapefruit mingled with pepper and juniper. An odd orange/ berry/ iodine note thats not that prominent is presumably the seabuckthorn.Taste has oranges, grapefruit, berries, juniper, pepper. Bitter finish with citrus and lingering spices. Interesting, invigorating.

On tap at Slowbeer. Nice nose and taste. Aromas of caramal, grain, peach. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, long length. Palate is velvety, almost creamy, and medium bodied. Orange, with a frothy head.

Bottle. Cloudy orange with white head. Aroma has lots of dusty orange, slightly sharp like blood orange. Taste of sharp orange, not much else going on actually, its pretty much fizzy orange juice which is good. Crisp and well measured bitterness. I could drink this all day, very refreshing

Murky orange with a nice foamy head. Aromas of flowery hops, fruits, buckthorn (?) and something i cant get a hold of, birch or something. Hoppy bitter taste, medium carbonation. Even more bitter in the end. Pretty cool, something different. Still lacks the final touch though.

Draft. Pours murky dark orange with small off-white head. Aroma is quite hoppy and fairly heavy with resin, peach, seabuckthorn, bread, herbal notes, and some juniper. Taste is medium sweet and medium+ bitter. Body is medium , texture is oily, carbonation is soft+. Finishes very bitter with a long bitter burn.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2013 Tap. Murky seabuckthorn orange with a thick, good lasting, nicely lacing off white head. Actually Im fascinated by how it looks. When I look around the bar its easy to tell who is having a Baltic Frontier because it looks so different. Though it may not be pretty by what beer should look like standards, It doesnt look like anything Ive seen before. Looks like unfiltered apple juice only more dense, but then it has this fine white head that tells Its a beer. The appearance builds up some curiosity as to how this tastes. Will it be crazy or disgusting? Neither. Nice and fresh. Aroma is peach, fresh resin, orange, bready malt, berries. I am not too familiar with the flavor of seabuckthorn, so I cant tell to which extent it is present. I am however familiar with the taste of juniper, which I cant pinpoint. Taste is medium sweet and medium+ bitter. Medium body, oily texture, light/medium carbonation. Really long dry heavy bitter finish. Seabuckthorn is full of vitamins. Baltic Frontier should be a part of your staple diet.

Small bottle. Cloudy orange body with a medium bubbly head. Fruity aroma with piney hops. Dry taste with medium to little fruitiness. After reading that its "beaten" with sea-buckthorn I kind of expected this beer to be acidic like seaberries but its not. Instead its dry and grapefruity like some other To l IPAs. Sessionable - yes, but with more berries it could have been more special.
