375ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light tan head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate with hints of coffee and cognac. Taste is a chocolate malty and cognac sweetness with a light hoppy and coffee bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a tasty porter that suits the style very well. These days it seems that many porters taste like stouts and visa versa.

Countbeer (5242) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - JUN 18, 2015
Bottle: Served in a shaker: Black beer. Brown head. Aroma of cognac, roast, lacto, wood roast, liquorice, soap, bay leaf, liquor... Flavours of roast, liquor, light spice, tar, light sharpness, malt roast, grain roast, tar, bay leaf, wood roast... Aftertaste is bitter, roast, liquor, liquorice, quite deep dark ’n black.... Low carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, close to full bodied. Not my favorite and quite a strange mix but also has a certain complexity which makes it this way...

Aroma: coffee, cherry, chocolate, smoke, cocoa, cognac, vanilla, lemon, grassy, herbal, licorice; Appearance: vanishing frothy head, pitch-black; Taste: intense bitterness, intense sourness, slight sweetness; Palate: long finish, medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation Very dry, intensely warming and aromatic beer. Aroma suggests more alcohol than it actually has. Intensely hoppy, for those who like it rough.

Bottle split at LKS Towers, from BD Online, 05/05/15. Black with a big ole tan covering. Nose is rich roast, coffee, cocoa rub, toffee, dark fruits, spice. Taste comprises light smoke, dark chocolate, liquorice, coffee, sherry soaked wood, light spice, charr. Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Decent Impy.

Bottle share, thanks to Colin. Black, big foamy brown head, full lacing. Aroma is quite light with some chocolate and a little sherry. Body is medium, foamy, touch of carbonation. Taste is milk chocolate, papery, twiggy, a little ash, soft bitterness. I really didn’t get much sherry or cognac. Had a bit of a watered-down vibe. Still, pretty good.

Swaroga (1711) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 11, 2015
A very tasty beer. It’s round and balanced. Had a deep, deep chocolate flavor with a delicate touch of alcohol. Delicious. Aroma is chocolate, toffee and dairy with little grilles cheese. Taste is medium sweet and earthy but has a very delicate and still delicious aftertaste which is a plus. Good stuff. Barel aging is there but not overwhelming.

Bottle shared at Leightons place. Thanks to Colin for this one. Opaque black coloured pour with an attractive, dark tan head. Aroma is big, chalky BLACK Malts, salty, cherry, red berry, raspberry. Nice stuff. Flavour is composed of dark malts, cherry, raspberry, hint of smoke, roast. Nice black forest gateau type thing. Palate is medium full, highish carbonation, tangy tart finish. Really solid.

Scopey (8790) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2015
Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich, oily, cocoa, rocky road, plenty of dark fruits sherry & port, jammy action, toffee, booze, fruit cake and honeycomb. The taste is bitter, roasted malts, mild acidity, jammy fruits, treacle, plum, toasty, booze, brandy and cocoa with dry, toasty finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Great nose, taste a touch of a let down though.

Leighton (13821) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2015
Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin. Pours oily black with a frothy beige head. There’s a bit of char on the nose, some dark fruits, cherry, berries. Medium sweet flavor with burnt wood, bitter chocolate, scorched earth, leathery dried out dark fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, lots of char, bitter cocoa, some raisins. The char is a bit heavy but it’s good overall.

Bottle. Black, beige head. In aroma dark chocolate, coffee, cherries - very nice :). In taste very complex malt base, light roastiness, chocolate, caramel with fruits, vanilla and liquorice. Full body, soft carbonated, oily and slick on the palate - very elegant. Great beer!
