COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Black Ball is a potent porter with a nice and round mouth feel combined with a lot of american hops, that balances the full and creamy body which has notes of chocolate, coffee and smoke.
Ingredients: Water, malt(pilsner, smoked, chokolade, cara munich, brown), roasted barley, flaked oat, dark cassanade sugar, hooops (Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade) and yeast.

Dark brown or better: black clear colour, with mousse-like light brown big firm head. Visually high carbination. Aroma without presence of alcohol, namely malts dominate: roasted barley, chocolate, toffee, coffee (naturally; they used munich and cara!). On the second hand you detect little notes of hops. Flavor is firstly sweet, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, than you notice alcohol warmth. In finish dominates hops (pine, little tropical reminescences). Hop bitterness is surprisingly high, but really well balanced with malt sweetness, which is medium. Body is full, but soft, carbonation also, with long lasting dry bitterness. Complex, very good porter, another fantastic brew from Proef.

Black pour with a three finger, creamy, tan head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is deep roast, smoke, charred wood, piney hops, dark chocolate, dark caramel, oily roast, grapefruit peel and crusty bread. Flavor is roast, ashy toasted oats, charred pine, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, toasted bready malt, ginger spice, earthy leaves and a nice dark caramel, burnt sugar and spruce tip finish. Medium body, creamy entry, medium, blanketing carbonation, chewy middle and dry, somewhat chalky finish. Really good stuff overall, big roasty, smoky character with a surprising hop punch.

Handpumo @Open Baladin Roma. Pours deep brown with a big and persistent cappuccino foam. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolata, coffee and vanilla, hops (grass), nice. Flavour is strong and powerful, chocolate, licorice, coffee, strong bitter end. Full body, light carbonation. Rough, but very good!

Bottle from Beer Hawk. Very dark almost black, with a billowing grey head that filled the glass perfectly, looked superb. Very full mouthfeel, big flavours. Actually very hoppy, malts getting a bit lost, some harshness and ashy burned flavour I guess from the smoked malt, maybe brown as well. Interesting and tasty, not sure comes together perfectly. One to sip rather than drink.

Classic look: black with brown medium head. Aroma is fantastic: from coffee, roasted malrs to caramel, to chocolate, to dark fruit. Taste very complex as well, a hurricane of all the aromas, plus a milky sweetness. Bitter end, with burnt caramel after taste. Wonderful.

[Bottle (330ml) in our apartment, Paris, May 22] 34th rating of my Paris/Amsterdam trip. Pours a very dark brown with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate, a touch of vanilla and nuts. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate & coffee, light lactic notes and a somewhat big bitter finish (7+). Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Medium bodied. Really good.
