De color ben negre amb una escuma cafetera. Aroma de xocolata torrat i notes de cafè. En boca és ben bé el mateix. Bon equilibri entre la xocolata dolça, el pi i petites dosis de fum i fusta, tabac i un final llarg.

Zwart bier, bruine kraag. Mooie volle porter. Goede balans tussen koffie bitterheid, chocolade en wat overrijp fruit. Goede carbo.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black body under a one finger frothy brown head that left some sticky lacing. The nose is pretty intense, lots of roast, chocolate, licorice, and burnt caramel. Some lighter notes of alcohol, light smoke, and a bit of citrusy hops. The flavor is a little too burnt and a bit acrid for my preferences, but there are some nice licorice and dark chocolate notes in here. There’s a bit of alcohol heat on the finish, but fairly well restrained. Medium bodied and just a touch clingy with soft fizzy carbonation. An OK beer, but nothing that I’d drink with regularity.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 330ml: Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate and plenty of it, minerals, bits of espresso, some booze, and some lightly burnt malts. Taste is quite bitter and very mineralish. Loads of chocolate. Hops are very prominent. Nice mouthfeel. Powerful aftertaste.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown to almost black, somewhat translucent. Small tan head that doesn’t last long, no lacing on the glass. Freshly brewed coffee, hazelnut, charred wood, and vanilla in the aroma. Taste is the same but with some simcoe hoppiness to it which is unexpected but very welcome, takes a bit of the edge off the coffee and smoke. Finish is long and coffee bitter.

Very toasty malt nose. Solid, lasting foamy brown head atop a black body. Creamy palate gives way to bitterness and a lot of coffee. Rich, mildly gritty with a strong vanilla front and good West Coast hop finish. Likeable.

Bottle. Black with a big head that took some time to dissipate. But it was worth it. Medium body with lots of maltiness that lingered for some time. Impressive.
