330ml bottle from Mikkeller Bottle Shop. Black with a big creamy tan head that stays a long time and leaves lacing. The aroma is bitter from dark chocolate, burnt muscovado sugar, roasted malt and a little booze. Full-bodied, low carbonated, oily mouthfeel. Bitter and dry taste, dark chocolate, roasted malt, nuts have a certain smoked peat sensation in the finish.

33cl bottle. Pours black with a beautiful thick beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, fruity hops. Taste is similar with an excellent balancement between sweet and bitter notes. Coffee and chocolate again along a good roastiness. Long lasting bitter finish with some dryness. Smooth oily mouthfeel, full body, light carbonation. Excellent.

Black, medium beige head. Roasty sweet chocolate and caramel on the nose, some US hoppy fruit notes. Medium-bodied, roasty bitterness with underlying caramel sweeteness and some notes of coffee and cocoa. Finishes warming, bitter and lovely for a rainy day.

Dark brown or better: black clear colour, with mousse-like light brown big firm head. Visually high carbination. Aroma without presence of alcohol, namely malts dominate: roasted barley, chocolate, toffee, coffee (naturally; they used munich and cara!). On the second hand you detect little notes of hops. Flavor is firstly sweet, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, than you notice alcohol warmth. In finish dominates hops (pine, little tropical reminescences). Hop bitterness is surprisingly high, but really well balanced with malt sweetness, which is medium. Body is full, but soft, carbonation also, with long lasting dry bitterness. Complex, very good porter, another fantastic brew from Proef.

Black pour with a three finger, creamy, tan head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is deep roast, smoke, charred wood, piney hops, dark chocolate, dark caramel, oily roast, grapefruit peel and crusty bread. Flavor is roast, ashy toasted oats, charred pine, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, toasted bready malt, ginger spice, earthy leaves and a nice dark caramel, burnt sugar and spruce tip finish. Medium body, creamy entry, medium, blanketing carbonation, chewy middle and dry, somewhat chalky finish. Really good stuff overall, big roasty, smoky character with a surprising hop punch.

Handpumo @Open Baladin Roma. Pours deep brown with a big and persistent cappuccino foam. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolata, coffee and vanilla, hops (grass), nice. Flavour is strong and powerful, chocolate, licorice, coffee, strong bitter end. Full body, light carbonation. Rough, but very good!

Bottle from Beer Hawk. Very dark almost black, with a billowing grey head that filled the glass perfectly, looked superb. Very full mouthfeel, big flavours. Actually very hoppy, malts getting a bit lost, some harshness and ashy burned flavour I guess from the smoked malt, maybe brown as well. Interesting and tasty, not sure comes together perfectly. One to sip rather than drink.
