Fles gedeeld met rikstar. Mooie donkere kleur. Ruikt naar gebrande koffiebonen en chocolade. Heerlijk vol bier, licht bitter met een iets zoete nasmaak.

Black pour with a three finger, creamy, tan head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is deep roast, smoke, charred wood, piney hops, dark chocolate, dark caramel, oily roast, grapefruit peel and crusty bread. Flavor is roast, ashy toasted oats, charred pine, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, toasted bready malt, ginger spice, earthy leaves and a nice dark caramel, burnt sugar and spruce tip finish. Medium body, creamy entry, medium, blanketing carbonation, chewy middle and dry, somewhat chalky finish. Really good stuff overall, big roasty, smoky character with a surprising hop punch.

Handpumo @Open Baladin Roma. Pours deep brown with a big and persistent cappuccino foam. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolata, coffee and vanilla, hops (grass), nice. Flavour is strong and powerful, chocolate, licorice, coffee, strong bitter end. Full body, light carbonation. Rough, but very good!

Bottle from Beer Hawk. Very dark almost black, with a billowing grey head that filled the glass perfectly, looked superb. Very full mouthfeel, big flavours. Actually very hoppy, malts getting a bit lost, some harshness and ashy burned flavour I guess from the smoked malt, maybe brown as well. Interesting and tasty, not sure comes together perfectly. One to sip rather than drink.

Classic look: black with brown medium head. Aroma is fantastic: from coffee, roasted malrs to caramel, to chocolate, to dark fruit. Taste very complex as well, a hurricane of all the aromas, plus a milky sweetness. Bitter end, with burnt caramel after taste. Wonderful.

Wygląd: Jasno brązowa, drobnoziarnista piana. Wysoka, opada zostawiając potężną koronkę. Barwa piwa - czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Aromat: Karmel, gorzka czekolada, kawa, Lekka śliwka i nuta orzechowa. SmaK: Mocna goryczka o charakterze gorzkiej czekolady. Kawowy posmak, lekkie nuty laktozy, Wyraźna paloność. Gorycz nie zalega. Po przełknięciu, czuć delikatnie alkohol. Piwo jest wytrawne, średnio wysycone. Bardzo dobre.

[Bottle (330ml) in our apartment, Paris, May 22] 34th rating of my Paris/Amsterdam trip. Pours a very dark brown with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate, a touch of vanilla and nuts. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate & coffee, light lactic notes and a somewhat big bitter finish (7+). Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Medium bodied. Really good.

8%ABV. Porter. Tapped out with no head and an ominously oily syrupy blackness (40ºSRM). I was immediately intrigued and had to explore the nose. The nose had a complexity of flavors that I can only desribe as "dark" with chocolate, cocoa-butter, tobacco, peat-smoke and caramel. The palate is surprisingly light with a clean syrupy mouthfeel that allows you to breathe in and appreciate the aroma in the pharynx with flavors of toffee, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, licorice. Quite alcoholic with an interesting clove-like finish. Dry finish, which always reminds me of having a dry ume plum in my mouth first hitting the palate. Bitter woodsmoke finish augmented by bitter hops.
