Black Maria is an American inspired Black IPA. It is black as an stout and hoppy as an IPA. The beer has been brewed with a good amount of highly roasted Carafa Malts, but with a relatively low amount of caramel and chocolate malts. This way we get the burned bitter and delicate chocolate notes in the beers, that goes well with the bitter and fruity aromas of the hops. The lack of caramel and chocolate results in less residual sweetness that you normally pick up from an Stout. For the hops we wanted some hops that could stand up against the Carafa malts. Therefore we used a mix of Columbus, Centennial, Galaxy and Cascade for the hop profile.

Butelka, warka do 19/01/18. Bardzo duza i fajna piana, prawie czarne piwo. Aromaty najpierw palone, pozniej chmielowe (bardziej zywica niz cytrusy).

Bottle at home, bought at Hopduvel. Roast, coffee, nice bitterness and exotic fruits to accompany. Towards the end of the bottle I was sort of getting a sour out of this beer, which takes the score down a bit, nice though!

ArtificialCyst (137) - Szczecin, POLAND - SEP 25, 2015
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2015 Aroma: Very low intensiveness, roastiness, coffee, tropical fruits, not intensive. Appearance: High beige head, very dense, durable, nice lacing, color is black. Taste: Roastiness, coffee, mediumly bitter, some hoppy fruit notes, touch of alcohol, light sourness. Palate: body is medium-full, finish is bitter and sour, carbonation is low. More like a bitter version of american stout than a black IPA.

Pours black haze colour, with light brown foamy unstable head. Aroma: alcohol is not detectable, just hints of dark chocolate, tobacco, coffee. Flavor: alcohol is mild noticable: prevails bitter sweet notes of coffee, roasted barley, dark chocolate, with hints of fruity esters of famous american-australian hops. Malt sweetness is medium, hop bitterness also, body is sticky, carbonation is low. Finish is bitter dry. Very proper black ipa
