Bottle - pours pitch with a tan head. Aroma is very vinous, with the smokiness of the barrel aging. Not bad!

Bottle from bestway. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. I get the lactose and the roasted malt on the nose but nit so much of the wine barrel I get more of the wine barrel on the tongue which pair nicely with the milk stout solid.

Bottle at Leighton’s place. From BottleDog. Dark brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is earthy roast, airy, mineral, little choc, tart dried fruits, black forest gateau. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty, jammy, some dried fruits. Palate is medium full, moderate carbonation, airy carbonation. Pretty mellow and easy going. Nice and complex. I like it. Nice and milky.

Bottle shared by Fergus. Black, small foamy brown head, light lacing. Aroma is ash, lime, pine, spearmint. Body is medium, a little foamy, low carbonation. Taste is soapy up front. Quite sweet with lime and pine. Has an ashy, woody finish.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Fergus. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. Lots of torched dark malts in the nose, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with lots of bittersweet chocolate, brownies, scorched earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with more bittersweet chocolate, dark bread, cocoa, dark fruits, berries, burnt wood. Quite solid overall.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich, bitter-sweet, dark chocolate, soft, toasty, burnt fudge, burnt vanilla, some piney varnish and light soap. The taste is rich, hard roast, earthy, liquorice, ashy, dark chocolate, mild acidity, coffee, varnish, soap, vanilla and some sugared plums with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Tasty stuff.
