Bottle at Leighton’s place. From BottleDog. Dark brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is earthy roast, airy, mineral, little choc, tart dried fruits, black forest gateau. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty, jammy, some dried fruits. Palate is medium full, moderate carbonation, airy carbonation. Pretty mellow and easy going. Nice and complex. I like it. Nice and milky.

Bottle shared by Fergus. Black, small foamy brown head, light lacing. Aroma is ash, lime, pine, spearmint. Body is medium, a little foamy, low carbonation. Taste is soapy up front. Quite sweet with lime and pine. Has an ashy, woody finish.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Fergus. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. Lots of torched dark malts in the nose, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with lots of bittersweet chocolate, brownies, scorched earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with more bittersweet chocolate, dark bread, cocoa, dark fruits, berries, burnt wood. Quite solid overall.

Scopey (9017) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2015
Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich, bitter-sweet, dark chocolate, soft, toasty, burnt fudge, burnt vanilla, some piney varnish and light soap. The taste is rich, hard roast, earthy, liquorice, ashy, dark chocolate, mild acidity, coffee, varnish, soap, vanilla and some sugared plums with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Tasty stuff.

Deep black colour with a lively brown head. Sour aroma - almost musky. Complex flavour of burnt toffee, more sourness & a balanced bitter finish. An interesting light stout but wouldn't be a regular choice. Rated by BrewTom

Aroma: woody notes, vanilla, dark malts. Appearance: black color, almost brown head. Taste: low bitterness, smooth (like after adding lactose), bitter chocolate, coffee, vanilla, dark malts. Palate: full body and low carbonation, chocolate finish. Overall: Complex taste, nice combination fo barrel notes and chocolate, recommended.

Muddy opaque pour with three fingers of creamy tan head. Nose shows some light roast and vinous/black coffee acidity. Light fruity notes and fruit skins as well with some oxidation. Interesting flavor, acidic roast and coffeeish notes. Vinous notes and fruit skins with a moderate sweetness and medium body. Meh.
