A very robust sweet stout. To Øl By Udder Means has a red wine and cocoa powder flavour. Very enjoyable.

9/XII/14 - 37.5cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: 20/VIII/18 (2014-1483) Thanks to Tinus for the bottle!

Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy irregular beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very fruity (from the hops? Would be weird as most aroma from the hops would have disappeared during barrel ageing), sweet, raisins, some caramel, dried fruits, sweet, big sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet sugary start, caramel, some vanilla, mocha, bit of chocolate. Aftertaste: soft roast, sugary, sweet, lots of milk chocolate, slightly sour, some nice bitter hops, very good stuff!

Imho aging this beer in muscatel barrels wasn’t the best idea. There is something unpleasant in it, something that dominates lactose and roasted aromas. Anyways still good stuff.

Bottle - Light tartness, vinous and dark roast with a touch of wood. Jet black with a rich brown head. Light vinous tartness, wood notes and dark roast. Odd, but quite nice.

12.7 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick and foamy tan head. Nose is wood, vanilla extract, cocoa and incense. Whipped and creamy medium body with a lactic tang. Taste is double cream chocolate, oak, coffee and tobacco with sweet glimpses of blackberry and currants. Lingering spice and pepper. Opens up nicely.

Butelka 375ml. Piwo jest delikatniejsze (czytaj bardziej wyważone) od nieleżakowanej wersji. Wciąż czuć mocne chmielenie i słodką laktozę. Tutaj niuanse z nasion i leżakowania są wyraźniejsze bo nie są przysłonięte intensywnym chmieleniem jak w wersji podstawowej. Łatwiejsze w piciu i chyba można powiedzieć przyjemniejsze.

Pitch black with a beige head and an aroma which carries the wine barrel scent. Flavour also has a heavy hint of the wine in what is otherwise a sort of hoppy stout hybrid. There’s hop, fruit, malt, wine and a smokey backtaste too. It’s got fantastic balance. Very very good.

Bottle thanks to Lukasmh. Pours pitch black with a smooth, creamy, brown head. Aroma has lots of hops and fresh wood, some coffee and some roast. Taste is dry at first, turns pretty sweet, and ends off with some acidic, dry, bitter and roasted notes. Full body and low carb. Besides from the dry wood and the slight fruity acidic, the barrel aging. Creamy body and low carb. Not bad!
