COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We bring to you an black thick milk stout called By Udder Means. We wanted to do a stout, that had a thick mouth feel and still a low alcohol percentage. We obtained this by adding a solid amount of lactose in the beer. The yeast strain we used is not capable of fermenting lactose, so when the beer stops fermenting all lactose still remains in the beer. At the same time lactose doesn’t leave this sweet touch to the beer, so you can obtain a thick mouth feel without having an overly sweet or overly strong stout. We hope you enjoy.

Black pour with a 1 finger, creamy mocha head that has excellent retention and leaves great lacing. Every sip brings a new cascade of lacing streaking downward from the point where my lip met the glass. Aroma is loaded with roast, chocolate, toast and lactose, then some dark caramel, toffee nuts, earthy and woody notes and a little booziness. Flavor is mocha sweetened with lactose, toffee, roast, a little char, earth, old campfire wood, light earthy notes, and light fruity and floral notes toward the finish. Medium to heavy body, creamy entry, chewy middle, light, blanketing and mildly sharp carbonation, syrupy, but chalky finish. There is a lingering feeling of sharp carbonation on the tongue that is very strange. Good stuff overall, I do dig Lacto Stouts in general and this has lots of components to make it awesome, but just enough throwing it off to make it just "good". Okay, maybe "really good". While I liked this beer quite a bit it is a terrible value. I paid $6.50/355ml (or maybe 330ml?) bottle. There are better stouts to be had for a little more than that price for six times the volume. That assertion doesn’t affect my score, but it is worth noting.

Aromat intensywny, kawa, paloność, czekolada, likier czekoladowy, karmel, kakao, słodkie owoce. Kolor czarny, nieprzejrzyste.

W afterteasie posmaki rumowo likierowe, rozgrzewające, przyjemne. Niskie nagazowanie.
Świetny Milk Stout, jeden z najlepszych, jakie piłem (oczywiście w wersji nie BA). Jest sporo słodyczy, sporo ciała, treściwość, intensywność - klasa!
Ps.
Warka do 08/06/20.

Very dark brown poue with a soft, tall tan head that is slow to rise to the surface. Pine and grapefruit up front, followed by milk chocolate, lactose, cocoa, licorice and a bit of vanilla. A milk stout leaning towards a pine-forward black IPA. Right up my alley.

Rose beige top, jet black body. Aroma of liquoriced sour fruits, roasted juicy malts, black chocolate with acidic raisins. Tastes caramels, nougat’ish chocolate, coffee cocoa, plums, almond, and finishes fruity malty n warming. Soft and fully on palate, semi dry. Overall varied, tasty, bodiful, quality sipper. Bottle, 33cl. Pours a beautiful dark brown colour with a marvellous thick pale brown head, prominent and dense; brilliant lacing as expected. Very floral aromas, those you would expect from hoppy IPAs, herbal, not as much malt as I had expected though. An uncommon aroma for any sort of stout/porter-like beer. Dark chocolate and malty flavours, toasted, also hazelnuts, sweet but with an astringent finish, very clever. Resin too, which accounts for a bit of the overly pine-like character. Some might consider this a drawback, others might like intense hops in every beer they drink (I personally prefer more neutral stouts). Very complex and intricate, but that resinous bite is not one I enjoy too much; either way, it’s spot on in terms of its DEVELOPING taste - set this as an example for a beer that is not one-dimensional. Finish is too hoppy, just like a black IPA. Medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, a beer to devote time to, definitely not a light one. Citrus is very subtle, but can be imagined if thought hard enough. I’m going to pair this one up (after this review, o as not to "cross-contaminate" my reviews!) with some nice dark chocolate, let’s see how it goes.

Bottle. Black body with a thick tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of blackcurrants, cherries, ash and tar. Flavour of liquorice, plum and chocolate covered marshmallow. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. An outrageously good, which sits somewhere between a Sweet Stout and a Black IPA.

Hatalmas, gyönyörű, tömör barna hab, fekete szín. Édeskés, kávés, pörkölt malátás illatvilág, a komlók közbeszólásával. Először a laktóztól eredő édesség érezhető, párhuzamosan a komló gyümölcsös aromájával, majd a komló és a pörkölt maláta keserűje együtt bukkannak elő, fokozatosan erősödve. Aztán a korty száraz kakaóporossággal cseng le, de az alkohol is kiköszön mögüle. Utóíze szárazon kesernyés, némi kakaóssággal és pörkölt malátás utánérzéssel. Testes, finom, jól összerakott sör.
