3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Yellow, hefe-hazy. Nose is super fruity hoppy. Tangerines, grapefruit, currants. Some pines, caramel malts and vanilla apricots. Mango, exotics. Obviously this is a hop-heavy drink, but I’m pleasantly surprised not to be overrun by green grassy leafyness. Body is full, bitter. Sweetish flavors, but leaves a dry bitter finish. Ok, but I prefer IIPAs filtered and sterile. Everything just gets amplified, which includes any yeasty residue.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle@home. Copper haze. Small head. Red grapefruit. Intense bitter hopping masking the alcohol very well. A brew that evolves in the glas. Super.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 Tap (Pudel Bar, Tallinn) (5:4:4:3:9=2.5)
Massively sticky stodgy aroma. Almondy (german bock-like) grains. Sticky and sweet. Resiny stickiness too. Dirty bitterness in the finish. Too sweet and sticky. Heady, covers the alcohol only by overpowering it. Very disappointing. I pulled a pretty ugly face with every mouthful. Yes, even worse than normal!
Rerate: Tap (Pudel Baar, Tallinn) (5:4:6:3:12=3.0)
Still cloudy, and still has a distinctively plasticky aroma that I associate with heller bocks. Smooth palate, not so sticky. Full malty body, but the hops smother that, fruity, fleshy fruits (that’s in part the malt sweetness). No ugly faces this time. Not my style, but certainly adequate. Useful rerate.
Rerate: 330ml bottle (?, Tallinn) BB201503, Drunk201312 (6:4:6:4:13=3.3)
Poured much clearer - just a haze. Orangy straw, tight off-white head. Still getting that bocky-malt almond aroma, but not as much as before. Not quite so plasticky. For it’s strength, quite light in the mouth, pleasant carbonation. Again, that heller-bock maltiness in the retronasals. Simple malty body follows, but that’s drowned in the hops. Not quite as fruity as before, but this is a month older, maybe the hops are fading? Tingly bitterness, a touch fatty too in the finish. Covers the alcohol more subtly, definitely an improvement. Worth the re-rerate.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle from Bradley’s. Pours a cloudy golden with a lovely lingering pillowy white head. It looks incredible. Aroma is one of the nicest I have ever smelled - lots of floral and fruity citrus, pine, strawberry, caramel, and a light touch of vanilla. Very finely balanced taste between the powerful and interesting dry hoppy bitterness and a lovely delicate caramel sweetness. Lively, dry and bittersweet finish. This beer is incredible. I would drink this again and again if I could get my hands on it. Comfortably the best IPA I’ve ever had.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Henrik, Bergen. Pours a murky light brown body with a small white head. Nose is resinous grassy hops, hints of wet leaves and herbs. Taste is soapy grassy notes, hints of melon and red berries. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty nice, though not outstanding.
