The next beer in the To Ĝl hop adventure is now a reality – we present to you Dangerously Close To Stupid. An Imperial IPA at 9,3 % ABV with a close to stupid amount of Citra and Centennial Hops in it. It is a bright crisp and super dry-hopped IIPA with a smooth and balanced body. To make a tight transition between the hop profile and the body we have removed all caramel malts and focused only on basis malts. This is resulting in a nice fresh Spring/Summer IIPA that has a Dangerously Close To Stupid drinkability. We have for a long time been wanting to do a pendant to the Final Frontier Double IPA, that has this rich caramel body and we think we nailed it Dangerously Close to Perfect with this one

Speciale!

Fantastic beer, pure hop awesomeness. Aroma is promising, the taste is even better. Fruity, bitter and a bit crispy. Delicious.

Butelka 33cl. Wyczuwam aromaty tarty i herbatników, zielonej herbaty, mandarynki, skorki pomarańcza, pompelo i cytryny, marakui i mango.

Bottle from Ġllepood nr 1 Gambrinus in Tartu (€ 4,80), August 2014. Cool design, although the Comic Sansish font on the rear does raise some eyebrows (I mean at least two of mine). Colour is a pale yet murky orange. Head is off-white and... massive! It drops slowly and leaves a considerable lacing. Nose is extremely piney and resinous, giving off great early autumny warmth, plus some dried apricots. More maltiness appears as it warms. Taste is pine resin, ripe tropical fruits (juicy) and malts. The extreme bitterness is well balanced by the sweetish, biscuity malts. I don’t get much citrusy aspects anywhere here. The 9,3% ABV in here is well hidden, only hinting at its own existence in the looong, soothing, bitter and warming finish... and... well, actually the last 1/3 is rather alcoholic to be honest - but in an enjoyable way. Full body, velvety smooth mouthfeel and a sticky palate; carbonation is low. I love such stuff. And so do the many fruit flies I see hovering above my glass... Overall a very good DIPA (though I do enjoy many of the other widely available ones more) best enjoyed in the beginning of a Nordic autumn when some leaves have already fallen and become the same colour as this beverage. Oh I so will one day enjoy this on a bench in Kadriorg park, surrounded by yellow maple leaves!

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Murky gold. Messy film of sticky, white head. Big, fruity, juicy, oily, pineapple hop. Lots of thick, sweet, grainy malt. Peachy. Some orange rind. Big, inviting, and juicy. Taste is sweet, then juicy, pulpy, zesty bitter. Feels nowhere near the ABV. A bit oily. Finishes chewy sweet, turning juicy, clingy bitter. A bit unrefined. And all the better for it.
