COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: The thing about First Frontier is the hops. Easy… This is an IPA “the American way”, no sticky-sweet malt profile, just the real deal potent and aromatic hops. The result is a refreshingly dry, fresh and bitter IPA, heavily dryhopped with the three American hop varieties warrior, simcoe and centennial, dealing a punch of citrus, peach and grapefruit from the deepest of our hearts directly to ya face. Just added a bit of caramel malt; merely to harness and balance the alcohol. ”We all got pieces of crazy in us, some bigger pieces than other”

”We all got pieces of crazy in us, some bigger pieces than other”
Ingredienser: Vand, Malt, Havre, Humle (Warrior, Simcoe, Centennial), gær.

0.33 l bottle at Svijet piva (World of Beers), Zagreb. Murky yellow, lasting off-white head. Citrus, orange, herbs maybe, light smoke, malts. Bitter kick, heavily hopped- Medium carbonation, warming from alcohol and bitterness, bitter finish. Well done, for the fans of strong, bitter beers!

Alengrin (4336) - BELGIUM - JUN 10, 2016
American style IPA by To Öl using Warrior, Simcoe and Centennial; brewed at Belgium’s Proef, like so many other To Öl beers. Very thick and frothy, ’papery’ lacing, moussy, rocky, egg-white and clearly hops-enhanced head over a hazy peach-orange beer with ochre hue and lively sparkling. Delicately fragrant nose of lime juice and lime zest, mandarin, spruce resin, passion fruit, sweet onion (the Simcoe?), lemon-flavored soap, light musky accent (again, probably the Simcoe), kiwi berry, hints of pineapple, soggy white bread, dandelions, moldy orange peel, rosemary, caramel, minerals, soaking wet cardboard. Crisp, lively onset, sourish fruitiness with sweetish touch, impressions of passion fruit, unripe green plum and raw pineapple, fine-tuned and lightly minerally carbonation, supple and slick body formed by smooth, somewhat grainy and very lightly caramelly malts timidly hinting at sweetness just as they are being overwhelmed by a wave of spicy, pungent, resinous, tonic-water- and strongly yellow grapefruit-like hop bitterness, drying the back of the mouth almost entirely but allowing just a trace of malt juiciness through, while some of the delicate lime and spruce aromas return retronasally, filling the nose with unmistakably New World hoppy fragrance. The resinous, utterly spicy bitterness is uncompromising, a bit harsh even, unsurprisingly when a potent bittering hop like Warrior is used to this extent, but it sharpens the appetite in a most efficient way and leaves one mouth watering after taking the last sip. Long-lasting peppery bitterness remains, with a light salty edge to it. One for the more advanced hophead I suppose, putting more emphasis on far-reaching hop bitterness than on sweet fruit aromas or biscuity maltiness. I can handle that, but I can imagine this may be a tad too harsh for some. In any case, I enjoyed this one a lot.

0.33 bottle. Hazy, dark honey color and a large, white head of good retention leaving some basic lacing. Aroma of flowers, hops, citruses, mango, and quite a few wet hop pellets. Taste is bittersweet - the sweetness comes from floral and fruity flavors whereas the bitterness is of grapefruity persuasion. A medium body, a delicately creamy texture, and an average carbonation. The finish is medium long, rather bitter though not particularly so for an IPA. Overall the beer is not bad, perhaps my drinking of Hop Hunter just prior to that skewed my judgment to the Frontier’s detriment, but it is nonetheless not as good a beer as its predecessor.

Brown bottle, 330ml. Pours medium amber and transparent with medium IPA haze and a medium tan white head subsiding average slow. Scent is fairly mellow hops maybe mosaic, and I think ethanol as well. Taste is medium dense IPA with light on the early hops and medium dense around the 60m mark (I guess). Creamy and cookie-cutter, but very good.
