To l Frost Bite is an American Pale Ale brewed with orange peel and pine needles. It is so frosty that it needs to be stored cold and may bite if you touch it. This beer is all about the balance (not the bass). Imagine the flavours of pine needles and orange peel. Now imagine the same flavours only represented by Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. This hoppy dry mix of spices and hops makes for the perfect Winter American Style Pale Ale.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Pale, Cara Red, Munich, Pilsner), flaked oats malt, pine needles, orange peels, hops (Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe, Amarillo), yeast.

Bottle. It pours an unclear golden-orange body under a dense, lasting, finger-thick off-white head. Some lacings too. The aroma is rather toffee-ish, with oranges and pine cones blending in. Its quite bitter on the palate, but also rather sweetish, so it needs to be. Pine cones, orange peel and some canned peaches and notes of bread and caramel. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting bitter and orangey finish. A bit sweeter than I prefer this one, and I can easily do without toffee and bread in my pale ales, but it certainly slides down easily. Well worth a rebuy. 140712
