COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To Øl Frost Bite is an American Pale Ale brewed with orange peel and pine needles. It is so frosty that it needs to be stored cold and may bite if you touch it. This beer is all about the balance (not the bass). Imagine the flavours of pine needles and orange peel. Now imagine the same flavours only represented by Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. This hoppy dry mix of spices and hops makes for the perfect Winter American Style Pale Ale.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Pale, Cara Red, Munich, Pilsner), flaked oats malt, pine needles, orange peels, hops (Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe, Amarillo), yeast.

330ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Looks: Translucent amber honey colour with very thin trace of yeast sediments; Half finger head and crumpety off-white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Beautiful sticky lacing with active small carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and sweet Ale malt, with strong floral, pineapple, strong honey, oranges, jam, strong molasses, light pine, light biscuits, yeast and light grass.

Taste: Mid to light sweet Amber malt, with caramel, light pine, light resins, light floral, molasses notes, light earth, dry biscuits, strong yeast, lemon, fairly strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Medium body. Very creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Solid Ale maltyness in a very smooth and creamy background. Amber-ish as well as Bockish with lots of dryness. Hop-wise there’s not much fruity elements but good floral bitterness abound. Pine is only a touch, but resin ooze fairly evident. Subdued sweetness, earthy biscuity with fair lemon to round. Easy!

Hoppiness: Strong floral, pineapple, marmalade, and light pine in nose. Earth, light pine, light resins, light floral, lemon and grass in taste. Bitterness is close to strong for a lasting, nice astringent malty finish.

After Taste: Quite Dry. Creamy, and nicely bitter to mouth.

Comments: Got to say this one’s pine needle and orange peel aren’t that obvious. It’s all abot the smooth rich body, nice but low-key fruity aroma, and Bock-ish malty full taste. Drinkable and very easy to go down, but I think taste-wise it can do more.

Bottle. Cotteridge, Brum. Hazy gold. Thin, ginger coloured head. Nose has lovely, chewy malts, and juicy fruit hops. Piney, as you’d expect. Taste is light, and airy bitter. Palate had a resinous oiliness about it. Very easy drinking. Fruity, bitter finish. Good stuff.

Pours hazy amber, with a off-white head, which is medium in texture. Looking very carbonated at first look. Aroma is strongly lager-like at first, with a feel of some pine and citrusy aroma kicking in later. Taste is very bitter with a sour ending, which leaves your mouth feeling a little citrus notes. This is a lager i can drink!

Hazy/cloudy amber color, average sized lasting off white head. Aroma of apricots, malts, bread, caramel, citrus, and banana notes? Taste is heavily bitter, I guess it’s from pine needles, strong malt backbone, some caramel and apricots notes, citrus. I don’t know, i like the sweet side of this beer, but bitterness is kinda off balance and I don’t really care for it. Medium body, lively carbonation.

Bottle 0.33l. Cloudy light amber color with big yellowish head. Flower aroma, hay and fruits. Very nice smell. Medium body and carbonation. Heavy bitterness, a bit too much at start but its ok when you get used to it. Fruity taste. Could taste some oranges in it. I can’t taste pine needles clearly but there is something that reminds mi of pine needles syrup.
