McNeillR (1133) - SCOTLAND - JAN 17, 2014
Subsued orange with a decent off white head. Clinical and steely nose. Earthy, honest citrus nose - warming rather than full on hop brightness. Initial taste is chewy tangerine. This is pretty decent, but there’s either a dulled vibrancy of the hops (or orange peel I’m only now noticing on the label) or the midget gem itchy chewiness of the malt is too much. It’s interesting, decently carbonated and lasting so by no means a bad thing. Coarse pine bitterness towards the finish which was milky, moreish and gummy.

Bottle, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh

Lightly hazy amber beer, tidy off white head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft and semi dry. Smooth dry malt. Little orange peel and marmalade hops. Light malt cream. Whisper of spice before a semi dry finish. Pretty drinkable but not really getting much of the spiced angle, barely any spice here.

Bottle, 6.0%. Mild hoppy aroma, more like mango than lemon peel or pine needles. Cloudy orange colour. Small stable off-white head. The flavour has a good hoppiness, but once again not that piney. There is a refreshing pine note, but no more than the soft fruit notes. Medium to high bitterness, very clean.

ClubGonzo (3984) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2014
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy deep orange body with a big cloudy off-white head. Stunning looks. The aroma does not disappoint, either: mild pine, peaches, rose water and hints of pale malts, earthy leaves and citrus in a very elegant mix. Taste is mild piney tones, earthy leaves, peaches and citric peel with hints of grapefruit and dry grass. Bitter finish. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Although this is definitely bordering on IPA territory, both hop-wise and regarding the ABV, this is a refreshing and powerful APA from To Øl.
