Bottle from Mane Liquor. pours amber with a little khaki head. Aroma presents subtle fresh coffee, caramel, banana and apricot. Taste is quite sweet, fruity esters with a whack of toast. Boozey sweetness goes down a treat. Relatively bitter. Solid beer.

Tangerine orange aroma. Lovely stuff. Pours dark brown with foam head that stays to the end. Sweet caramel, heavy body and noxious verging on the obnoxious it’s so filling. Low carbonation. Little alcohol taste despite high abv. Liked this one.

Pours a light brown, clear and with a huge, fluffy and creamy tan-colored head. Aroma is sweet with malts, caramel and candy. Some hints of alcohol, but that is kinda expected.. Some light banana notes as well. Taste is sweet. Heavy malty with fruity notes. Full bodied and rather highly carbonated.

750mL bottle, pours a dark amber with medium beige head. Aroma brings out some burnt roasted coffee beans, some dark fruits, and a little spiciness. Flavour brings out sweet caramel upfront, followed by coffee beans, ending again on the sweet caramel and a little bit of dark fruits. Quite sweet (though not cloying) and coffee-ish, and a bit alcoholic. Not a traditional quad by any means, but quite enjoyable. Good stuff.

Bottle at home. Pours clear copper brown with a good, long-lasting white head. Big hop aromas, pine and resin mostly. Lots of sweet notes too, milk chocolate, toffee, fudge, tablet, sultanas. Lacks darker malt and yeast that I’d expect for the style. Very rich, good carbonation. Enjoyed it, but atypical.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at Mikkeller Bar. Murky dense brown pour with a white clingy head. Boozy, dark fruit, lower carbonation so it’s pretty smooth on the tongue. Seems a little messy with lots of ingredients and I don’t know that there’s a lot of synergy here, but it’s still tasty.

Bought at Welcome Hotel in Balmain 330 Ml bottle Muddy brown color, good half finger of light brown head. Good persistence to this and settles to a nice film. Nose is a mixture of booze, dark fruits, candied sugar and piney hops. Thought off the bat that this is too young. Aggressive nose in a bad way. Taste is dark fruits, sugar, caramel, pine, citrus, and booze. Quite hot. Reasonable feel. Full bodies, slightly too sweet and sticky, too much booze for the style. Slow ass sipper and needs to be cellared for a while. Young and brash puppy, currently other quads are more ready to drink right now

Tap at the Refuge in San Carlos as part of a quad flight

Hazy brown pour. Huge vanillin oak, lots of coffee and cherries in the flavor. Dates and quad alcohol heat. Quite a strong hop bite for the style, orange peel, almost like an American Strong Ale in that respect. Not a good thing. This is an over-the-top everything-but-the-kitchen-sink bigger-is-more-better quad. Simply not in the league of good examples of the style; I’m a bit puzzled by the high ratings here.

some candied citrus peel in there among caramel toffees- sweet malty characters so well balanced with the hops. a bargain at any price really, as it drinks great now, and in 6 months it will be something different. cracker.
