330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co. Orange amber, not much head. Mango & other tropical fruits aroma. Pasionfruit & raspberry flavour. Dry aftertaste. Looks and smells better than it tastes. Very big flavour for a fruit beer.

ClubGonzo (4115) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 24, 2014
Bottle @ Biskopen, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with a large creamy white head. Nose is herbal grassy notes, peaches, lichi, pineapple, herbs and meat that has gone slightly off, for some reason. Taste is grassy herbs, lichi, citric peel, peaches, catty tomato plant tones and hints of lime and sour apples. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. Somehow the hops and fruit additions don’t add up on this one, leaving the overall impression as a muddled mess of diverging tastes, encapsuled in catty herbal notes. Not too impressive from To Øl.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold, with a large off-white head, which lasts very well and leaves good lacing. The aroma is a melange of guava, papaya, passionfruit and some mango, with no sign of apricot or, more importantly, and sort of hops or malt notes. Guava and papaya up front blend with some hops bitterness, although individual hops flavours are hard to detect through all the fruit. Mango in the mid-palate leads through to a finish swamped by cloyingly sweet passionfruit, which lingers as an aftertaste. I have to say I have no problem with the use of fruits as brewing ingredients, but this just goes way overboard. The beer itself (an IPA apparently, although one would never guess) is buried somewhere undetectable beneath a huge pile of tropical fruits, which not only dominate the flavour, but lend a sticky sweetness to the whole affair which is far from pleasant. A poor effort from a usually quality brewery.
