3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden/amber body with a medium off-white head. Low carbonation. Aroma of Um Bongo - a real tropical fruit feast. Flavour is more bitter than the aroma suggests - green apple, melon rind, gras and herbs. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Enjoyed this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Supremely delicious fruity brew. Pours a bright golden orange with a hazy body, creamy, sticky pure white head. IPA component is light and non-existant. A bit of bitterness but it is in good balance with the tropical fruits. Papaya, guava, apricot a bit of pineapple and mango. Well done brew with a beautifully smooth, silky mouthfeel. The aroma is a bit more reserved than the flavour profile which is bursting at the seams with fruit notes.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

Gott

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 24th September 2016 and poured into a D’Achouffe tulip glass. It poured a hazy golden orange colour with a two finger white frothy head that eventually collapses in on itself after a minute or two leaving thick frothy lacing. Aromas were a little dank at the beginning but gives rise to some tropical fruits, mainly guava, mango and passion fruit. There are also hints of lemon and pine. Taste is very tropical fruit like, I especially get mango, passion fruit, guava and peach. There is a slight bitterness in the middle with citrus grapefruit coming through, but its definitely more fruity than hoppy or bitter. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Overall, this was a self described IPA, and I can understand why its listed as a fruit beer on both beer advocate and ratebeer. It is very fruity which makes it very easy to drink. However, I do prefer my IPAs to have more bitterness at least in the finish, but I think overall it does retain enough IPA characteristics for me to still consider it an IPA.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Rudat in Dortmund. The beer has got a hazy orange-amber colour with a small head and smooth body. Aroma of exotic frutis, hops and apricots. Taste is very fruity with touches of apricots, papaya, mango and passion fruit. But it also has got very hoppy and barleylike hints. Very special but I enjoyed it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Teku. Golden medium hazy with medium, semi-densed, white head. Medicore head retention and lacing. Medium, harsh passion fruit aroma, mildly fruity. Taste is medium bitter, slightly sour (from the fruits added). Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. In overall another IPA with passion fruits added. This makes the beer sour and not as tropical as you may expect.

Part of me doesn’t like the idea of this. The amazing thing about great IPAs is how the hops can bring a huge range of fruit (and other) flavours into life. So, why then add copious quantities of the very same fruits? You wouldn’t stick blackcurrents in your Cabernet Sauvignon, would you? But on the other hand ... this is like a turbocharged IPA, with the fruit levels turned up to eleven. With some malt, not much bitterness and not much pine. Medium body, cloudy light orange colour, big white head and good lacing.
